Double Room En Suite in Crookes - couples welcome

This listing is for a double room in a nice house in Crookes, open to mature students and professionals, and couples are welcome. Tenancy starts on Sat 18th October. Bills not included sadly. Smokers welcome but please just outside. Lease is 10 months but landlord is usually pretty flexible and we can speak to them if you need something different. Queer friendly household, but not queer only!

About the room and house:

The room is a spacious double attic room with an en suite toilet and sink, and comes furnished with a bed, mattress and drawers.

The house is set back a bit from the road so it's quite quiet, with a small front garden and a friendly neighbourhood cat. There are 2(!) living rooms, one upstairs which is more of a main lounge and the one downstairs can double up as a study with a large desk, as well as a sofa bed for any guests and we also use that room to put bikes in (great for WFH / studying). We have a bath / shower on the first floor, and in the kitchen there is lots of storage space, fridge freezer, washing machine and air fryer. There is also a basement for any longer-term storage needs. The landlord is very chilled, and they will be doing some refurbishments very soon so the house should get a fix-up and a new paint job too!

Location:

The house is on Crookes Road, and is a 10 minute walk to Crookes High Street, and 5 minutes from the Broomhall shops (loads of supermarkets within 15 minute walk). 15mins walk to UoS buildings and ~20mins to SHU collegiate.

It's a roughly 10 minute walk to the Royal Hallamshire hospital (other hospitals 15 minutes), you can also get the H1 bus for free to the NGH in ~1hr door-to-door if you have an NHS pass. Thornbury and Spire hospitals also very close by.

There is a 52 bus stop right outside that can get you to the city centre in 10-15 minutes, also 51, 120, and 10 very close by.


About the housemate:

My name is Sam, I'm 28 and currently studying for my master's in occupational therapy and am planning to stay on in the house to look for OT roles in the area once I graduate in the new year. I'm a chilled, warm housemate, I'll be working 9-5 Mon-Fri and usually spend my evenings at exercise or meditation classes, or chilling watching films in the house or pub quizzes etc. On the weekends I'm usually out hiking in the Peaks but I'm also a big fan of sofa days. I'm also quite socially engaged so might be out at demonstrations! I keep the house very clean but nothing over the top, and I like socialising and nights at the pub / events but generally tend towards the chilled side than the party animal side lol.

About you:
I'm happy to live with single tenants or couples (couples split rent), and either mature students or professionals. Also happy to live with people working shifts and nights. Just the usuals really, be kind and warm, keep things clean and also quiet in the later hours on weeknights. There's space for a bike, and there's car parking just like 1 minute walk away and you'll need a parking permit. If you like hanging out in the house that's a bonus but if you've got loads going on outside the house that's totally fine! The house is queer-friendly, so you need to be either queer or an ally (just be cool).
