✨ Friendly Architect & Cat Seek Housemate – Bright Double Room, Thornton Heath (CR7 8HY)
Hello! My friendly Ragdoll cat Violet and I are looking for a new housemate to join our calm and creative home. Our lovely South African lodger has been with us for the past year and a half but is now heading off on new adventures — so the room is available for someone kind, tidy, and easygoing.
🏡 About the Home
Located on the first floor of a peaceful Edwardian maisonette, the double room overlooks the private rear garden and includes a built-in storage cupboard. The room can be offered furnished or unfurnished to suit your needs.
Shared spaces include:
• A recently updated bathroom and modern kitchen
• A comfortable living room for quiet evenings or relaxed chats
• A private garden (currently being simply landscaped) with a shed for bike storage
• Loft space also available for luggage or other storage
The property sits at the end of a terrace, so there are no upstairs neighbours and only one adjoining property — making it particularly peaceful.
🌳 Location & Neighbourhood
Howberry Road is a quiet residential street with allotments at the end and a friendly, local feel.
• 5–10 minutes to Thornton Heath Station (direct trains to Victoria and London Bridge)
• 15 minutes to Norwood Junction Station, with 12-minute trains direct to London Bridge and easy links to the Overground
• Close to Crystal Palace Park and Triangle — perfect for walks, galleries, and great independent restaurants, cafés, pubs, and shops
• Nearby parks, tennis courts, and supermarkets for convenience and leisure
You’ll have the best of both worlds here: a calm, leafy setting with quick connections to central London and vibrant local culture just up the hill in Crystal Palace.
About Me
I’m an architect and arts lover who enjoys festivals, gigs, gallery openings, and being outdoors — from bike rides to the occasional surfing trip. I love cooking and sharing good food and conversation but also value quiet evenings and personal space.
The home has a warm, communal feel where you can join in or have your own time — a space for both sociability and rest.
🐾 A Note About Violet
Violet is a gentle indoor Ragdoll cat who loves company and naps. She must stay indoors at all times, so anyone moving in should be happy with that.
Other Details
• Smoking allowed outdoors only
• TV Licence included
• Smart thermostat and smart meter recently installed to help keep energy use efficient
Approximate monthly bills (per person):
• Water: £20
• Gas & Electric: £37.50
• Broadband (Virgin): £25.50
• Council Tax: £92
📍 Address: 74 Howberry Road, Thornton Heath, CR7 8HY
💰 Rent: £750/month (+ bills as above)
📆 Available: November
If this sounds like a good fit, please send a message with a little about yourself — I’d love to arrange a viewing and see if we’re a good match!
