Description
£525 of the £555 will be awarded by the DWP if you qualify for rent being paid on universal credit. No council tax is due as the landlord covers that cost. The £650 deposit can be applied for from 'housing options' bond board, if you can't afford it.
Water, Gas, electricity and internet are covered by the total rental price. There is timed central heating throughout the house. The £30 difference each month not covered by the DWP would come out of your living allowance money.
Your room comes unfurnished but the landlord can lend you a single bed for a while. If you've come from homelessness or an unsettled lifestyle recently: 'Tenancy options' will enable you to apply for 'Welsh assembly first move in goods such as a new bed and white goods which would be granted to you for no charge and delivered to your room.
This is a 1980s type values household with trustworthy tenants who are gentlemen. One is a pub landlord and business entrpreneur who has his main residence elsewhere and only stays in his room occasionally, one tenant is signed off ill, and one is a refugee. The current tenants quite regularly enjoy smoking cigarettes whilst drinking coffee in a well ventilated communal area, regularly aired via 2 open windows.
These tenants are quiet and relaxed people who also once a week might enjoy a festive get together, so they prefer 2 more 1980s values type mindset-housemates (male or female - and it's also completely ok if they are quite a bit youger than us) who haven't got issue with smokers and who would also enjoy participating in the occasional friendly get together, where they might moderately enjoy a few beers whilst we together enjoy music coming from our kitchen CD-player with speakers, perhaps eat a comfort-food meat based dish or talk about 'Global Affairs', 'God and the World' (colloquially speaking).
The ususal routine during the week here is that tenants sit quietly together but each pursung their own thing of interest (for example reading or quietly listening to alternative news sources) in the communal area whilst drinking cofee and smoking - and then one might withdraw for a while to his room to have a rest ... and eventually do the same all over again several times a day (perhaps pop out with the car somewhere to go for a walk in a picturesque place, or have a lovely realxing bath session). There's no awquardness or anymosity to do so in this house.
We have created an environment where we live a bit like a family would, where people don't need to go lugging back and forth shower and grooming utensils and liquids, nor hide away their own pots and pans. We take pleasure in keeping common facilities clean as we go along and to help eachother out with that so that dishes don't pile up etc.
We also try make sure to stock up on a wealth of cooking ingredients, condements and beverages etc so that as long as by the end of a certain agreed period whoever borrows something puts it back can enjoy hassle free 'time-out' and recouperation.
This landlord is offering people who have endured a struggle to get back onto their feet longterm. We're pretty confident that the culture in this house will be able to contribute towards healing over time emotional wounds each tenant with their individual journeys may have endured.
During the summer months we are able to enjoy an outside patio area also, with benches and a parasol giving shade. The town centre is 45 minutes easy stroll away and the bus stop at the main road is 5 minutes walk away.
One person in the household has a car, and he is willing to help each tenant with one monthly large shopping to be done at the big affordable 24 hour superstore a few miles away, using a prior prepared shopping list (to help those tenants to budget sensibly), and being reimbursed the appropriate petrol money.
A commuter-bycicle for each tenant can be kept safe and dry from the rain in a glass house that we have next to our patio
House policy':
What we do not wish for is people who are threatoning and who seek conflict as a pattern, or people with such addiction problems that they rob or bring dangerous people back to the house. That said, it is not a problem to have occasional trusted visitors who are of described positive character we seek.
Having one longterm-developing romantic partner over in your room occasionally who is becoming a longterm partner and is sociable towards the other tenants is not a problem, but giving your house keys to that person is not ok, nor is it to have altering romantic partners stay over in your room frequently. It is also not ok to allow random people access to use the kitchen facilities on a daily basis using the explanation that they are staying in a hotel where they cannot cook.
TO REGISTER YOUR INTEREST please write a short note with your name age and if your are entitled to housing benefit by DWP, as well as your telephone number. The landlord will then likely text you back, and fairly swiftly speak to you over the phone once you have agreed a time to do so.
The landlord wishes for smooth operations that the monthly payments be set up by bank transfer into his businesses account rather than cash payments being handed over each month, and the tenancy contract is regulated by the NRLA (which Swansea Council approves of as a responsible partner under the 'renting homes act 2016'). We are willing to guide you through the nescessary processes as we ourselves have recently had to work through the same processes.
