Description
I’m looking for a friendly person to share my flat with. The flat is well designed, so there’s room for shared living, while also offering personal space. Ideal for a mature student or professional – let’s have a chat and see if we get on!
The room on offer is a good size with double bed, wardrobe and space for a desk. In addition, there’s a shared living room, open plan with a sofa / TV area, and a dining area. It’s nice and light thanks to the Juliet balcony, and there’s plenty of space for two, with room for occasional guests as well. The shared kitchen & bathroom are both in good condition, with everything you’d expect (cooker, fridge & freezer, washer-dryer, bath & shower.) All bills are included in the rent: water, gas, electric, council tax, service charge, broadband, TV licence. Use of a numbered parking space is also included at no extra charge.
The flat is nicely furnished with new appliances and I keep it clean & tidy, without being obsessive! It’s on the top floor (of 3) so although there’s a few stairs, it’s worth it for no noise from above and lots of light. Unfortunately this may make the flat unsuitable if you have a mobility impairment. The flat is in a quiet cul-de-sac (mostly young families and young professionals), which is well maintained, including a shared garden.
The whole flat, including the bedroom and the entrance area, is non-smoking (the garden can be used if you smoke.) Unfortunately, the flat is not suitable for a dog or cat (other pets at my discretion: please let me know before arranging a viewing.) I am letting this room under the government’s Rent-a-Room scheme which allows owner-occupiers to rent one room in their home to one person (so no couples I’m afraid.)
The location is great, 25 mins walk or a 10 minute bus-ride to the city centre, and 15 mins walk to Digbeth where there’s pubs, cafés and culture. It’s also walkable to BCU or Aston Uni. The local area is pleasant with a nearby ‘village square’ on the canal-side, (including a convenience store, doctors & dentist) and a large Morrisons nearby.
Having let this room to several flatmates over the past decade, I’m used to having people around, and am looking for someone who’s after a balance of shared living and respecting each other’s personal space. Although I’m a quiet person, I’m happy to have a chat or watch some TV together, so don’t feel you’ve got to stay in your room all the time. I work for a charity campaigning for peace & social justice, and outside of work I enjoy film, live music etc. as well as going down the pub, so if you fancy the odd trip out to any of those I’d be up for it.
It’s important for me to find the right person to share with (as I’m sure it is for you too) so viewing the flat and having a face-to-face conversation is essential. Before moving in, please also provide a brief reference and proof of identity.
I love living here – if it sounds like you might enjoy it too, please get in touch to arrange a viewing. I look forward to meeting you!
