Description
Lodger/House Sitter
The rent for this room is significantly lower than the market rate because the lodger agreement includes a commitment by you for regular house/pet sitting – from just overnight to long weekends.
The house/pet sitting is an essential part of the lodger agreement and a lodger will be asked to move out if this is not fulfilled.
The pet sitting involves looking after my dog and cat. This would be feeding them, changing the cat litter tray and walking my dog. It is therefore essential that you have experience of pets. My dog is medium size and needs around a 10-20 minute walk each day. He can be left alone during working hours.
In terms of commitment, it would be a couple of long weekends a month or 1-2 days mid-week and maybe feeding the dog in the evening if I'm away for the day. There may possibly be longer periods but I use a website called Trusted Housesitters and, if I am planning a longer trip away, then I would probably book someone to do this.
I have a daughter who lives near enough to deal with any emergencies if either animal needs to go to the vet.
You will need to provide photographic ID and references as well as proof that you are entitled to live in the UK. Ideally, I am looking for a mature professional who is in employment. Sorry, no couples.
This is a non-smoking household so you should be a non-smoker – not a smoker who only smokes outside.
The room is fully furnished with a king-sized bed and en-suite shower. It has a comfortable mattress as well as a desk, wardrobe, chest of drawers, armchair and bookcase. The room has a SMART TV, ceiling fan and Wi-fi. The private en-suite has a powerful shower with unlimited hot water, basin and WC and a heated towel rail. You will have open access to the kitchen and all facilities for cooking, with a food cupboard, space in the fridge and freezer and use of the washing machine. There is also a dishwasher.
Bed linen and towels can be provided if needed.
I am in my sixties and have shared my home with lodgers for many years. I enjoy walking, cinema/theatre, gardening and photography and plan to do quite a bit of travelling over the next few years but want my pets to be well cared for while I am away.
The house is within 5 mins walk to Chichester railway station, 10 mins to the city centre and 20 mins to the hospital and university. It has easy access to the A27. The street has parking restrictions but a residents car parking permit can be purchased from the Council. A bicycle can be stored in the garden.
We are close to the Nuffield gym and the cinema and restaurants at Chichester Gate and the canal tow path is at the end of our road for walking and cycling.
Please message me with a detailed description of yourself and your experience with animals.
