Description
Firstly, I must highlight that we have a dog. A 14yr old 'rescue' Labrador. So if dogs are a no-no for you, that hopefully saves you time reading any further!
The house is a beautiful detached Edwardian property over 3 floors with garden all around. The house is a 2-3 minute walk from the seafront near Splash Point swimming pool/leisure complex and the seafront ‘Arts Quarter’ and Coast Café. It is a slow 10 minute walk to the town centre.
The room is spacious with a 9ft high ceiling. Furniture wise, it has a French antique 5ft pine bed with new mattress. There is a double door pine wardrobe and two bedside cabinets, a chest of drawers, and a desk. There are three large windows, all overlooking the garden. The windows have made-to-measure thermal blackbout blinds so you can sleep well even in daylight hours (for any shift workers). If required, we would be able to remove some of the furniture so you can have your own.
The bedroom has a fully tiled ensuite bathroom with a shower, basin and WC. It has Sky Fibre Max broadband, CAT cabling, and a TV aerial point.
There is a large kitchen with a range cooker and it opens out into the dining room. Here there are French doors opening onto a large decked area. The garden is beautifully quiet with lots of direct sunshine and the autumn produces lots of berries, figs and pears.
Next to the kitchen is the laundry room with a washing machine and airing/drying racks. There is also a tumble dryer.
Up until the pandemic we had lodgers for over 10 years. When that ‘hit’ it changed all of our lives, both how we worked and how we spent leisure time. An outcome of that is that we turned one of our spare rooms into a ’games room’ with a pool table and darts. So that is available as an additional leisure space as well as the shared lounge. We also have an infrared sauna, hot-tub and swimspa (the swimspa is one of those pools that you can set ‘waves’ in, so you can swim any distance you like at whatever pace you can manage). There are also stretch bars and a rubber surfaced area if you fancy yoga/pilates exercise outside.
As well as being close to the seafront; tennis courts and gyms are all within short walking distance. Windsurfing and other watersports are available on the beach and there is also an ‘open air’ gym on the seafront (free to use). The frequent 700 bus stop for the coastal route to Brighton is a 2 minute walk away, Worthing train station is a 15 min walk and Worthing hospital is 2-3 minute walk.
The house is big so manages different lifestyles easily. We have had shift workers (clinicians/ambulance crew) and no one ever disturbed anyone due to the amount of space. We work office hours Monday to Friday but are happy to have lodgers that work other routines. We are looking to find someone who works outside of the home, not someone who works from home.
We are looking for a single, responsible articulate person who is in full time work and is respectful of others, sorry, no couples. We work during the week and are up early so we live fairly quite lives Mon-Fri, in fact on Sat/Sun too. … this is not a party house.
Please only consider the room if you understand the concept of looking after things. We have a wonderful cleaner who comes for 6 hours every week and she will clean the ensuite in the bedroom as part of her routine. However, she will not clean the bedroom area itself. She has been cleaning for us for over two years now. We are ‘grown ups’ and have never needed rotas or ever left ‘notes’ scattered around the house to communicate. I’m sure you don’t want to pull left-behind food from the sink plug-hole anymore than I want to for someone else.!
Please note this is a non-smoking house (both cigarettes and vapes) and that includes the driveway and garden.
A months deposit is required and the rent can be paid weekly or monthly. References will be required and checked. Equally, after any viewing, if you would like to speak to our previous lodgers they are happy to have a brief chat so you can find out about us and the house!
As you can see, we have provided a lot of information to help people understand the set-up in the house and whether it may or may not suit them. If you do not have a profile on Spareroom that has a reasonable amount of information about you, please do provide information that tells us about you and your situation when making contact. Thank you.
