Description
This is a Homeshare arrangement: Homeshare is based on the idea of combining low monthly fees and home sharers volunteering around 10 hours of support a week to the homeowner. There is a matching process to ensure a good arrangement that can last is moved forward. So we will need to make a profile and complete references and criminal record checks for anyone interested to show the homeowner before any meetings can occur. There is not a tenancy agreement, a licence to stay agreement is used instead.
The charity Grace Eyre operate this service in the Worthing and Brighton areas
The room and information
• A large room, in a converted loft with furnishings in a converted period building that is 5 minutes walking distance from the main train station and 15 minutes from the town centre with local shops nearby too
• There is a nice large garden area, with a conservatory attached to a large kitchen, with a nice living room that connects to the homeowners downstairs bedroom. The main shower room is on the ground floor too.
• The room that you have is upstairs in the converted loft space, the floor space is approximately 3.5m by 3.75m with angled ceilings (Photos Attached - do note that the height to the beam in teh room is 6ft). There is also a toilet on this floor, that would only be used by yourself as no one else lives upstairs.
• The homeowner is an elderly lady, who recently had a fall and needed an operation on her hip though this has not affected her spirts
• They have some professional carers that attend, as well as a cleaner weekly (you would be responsible for cleaning the upstairs area that would be your space)
• The voluntary support that is being asked for is primarily, helping to reheat prepared meals for the person once a day, helping keep communal areas clean and tidy as well as occasional tidying of leaves in the garden and then spending time chatting with the homeowner who is actively interested in learning more about people and chatting about all sorts.
• There are no pets, and the home sharer would be welcome to occasionally have guest visit for coffee etc, but no overnight guests.
• The fee you would pay Grace Eyre instead of rent would be £275 a month. There may be a contribution to bills if an increase is noticed. To create your profile and complete checks there will be a one off fee of £100 + DBS check charges
The sort of home sharer that might suit this home is, based on the homeowners preferences:
• Female, ideally a non smoking/vaping person who is naturally tidy and with a caring nature or experience in care.
• Comfortable chatting and sharing time with the homeowner.
• The sharer would need to have good physical mobility as the large bedroom is up a steep staircase off the first floor landing.
