Description

Hello 😊! We are are looking for a new housemate for our home on Kirkstall Avenue, as our housemate is moving out to live with his partner. I'm Molly, 32, I've just finished a PhD and I'm now working on a short-term research project at the university. Outside of that, I enjoy growing, cooking and eating vegetables, playing football, enjoying beers or exploring on 2 legs or 2 wheels! I'm currently waiting to confirm if our other housemate will stay on next year or not, but wanted to start searching for a new housemate in the meantime!

We like to enjoy some communalness in the house. This doesn’t mean anything in particular, but just a sense of making time for each other and the house, could be cooking or eating together, watching a film, chatting, or whatever really. We’re looking for someone who would be interested in this kind of houseshare, and most importantly that we get on with and can have a laugh with.

The house has three bedrooms (one large first floor bedroom, and two smaller (but not small!) attic rooms), with one spare room/office. There is a large kitchen and living room, so plenty of space, and also a big cellar, where we keep our bikes. The cellar has access to a little back yard which catches the morning sun. We’re right beside the canal, and close to the Kirkstall Bridge pub. There are good bus connections to town, a 20 minutes walk to the Headingley station and space in front of the house to park a car. Molly also has an allotment in Armley park (about 15 mins walk) which she'd be very happy for someone who was keen to get involved in that.

The house is rented through a private landlord who is easy to communicate with and quick to fix things. The whole house rent is £1050 a month, which we split as £402 for the biggest room, and £317 for the two smaller ones - the biggest room is available, which is on the first floor. There is some furniture already here (bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers), but it is flexible if you want to bring your own things too. Bills are working out currently at around £70 per month. This doesn’t include council tax (band B - £140 a month), which we'd need to work out how to best split.

The room is available from the start of October.

Please drop us a message if you think this could be a good fit for you, with some details about yourself and what you’re looking for. We’re happy to answer any questions, or send more photos of anything in particular. And if it feels like it might work then we can organise for you to come over :)
