Free Cottage in return for Childcare

We are offering free accommodation in a beautiful, detached riverside cottage with garden and private riverside access near Pewsey, Wiltshire for approximately 16 hours childcare/week (may include weekend hours).

We have a lovely large house by the River Avon opposite the cottage. Childcare would sometimes take place in the cottage and sometimes the main house but the individual or couple would have private use of the cottage for their own board and lodging.

Please note this is NOT a paid-position. It would either suit someone who works or studies part-time during the day, or a couple who could offer a mix of childcare and gardening/handyman duties.

You must be able to drive (ideally with access to a car) as we need help with the school run 3 days a week (15 minutes to Pewsey one way).

We have 1 boy aged 4 and a girl aged 1. Our 4 year old boy is great fun, delightful company, intelligent, playful and affectionate. He loves meeting new people and tends to make the world smile! Our 1 year old is a wonderfully calm, easygoing and happy little girl with a beautiful temperament.

As a family, we enjoy the outdoors (we do a lot of walking, biking, swimming and climbing), all of which the kids enjoy but they equally enjoy reading, drawing, imaginative play, arts and crafts, cooking, puzzles etc.

Mum and dad both have jobs, although mum mostly works from home.

Generally, you should be prepared to engage with the kids at all times, not just when "on duty", and be proactive with not only keeping the kids happy and healthy but keeping all play spaces/kids bedrooms in good order and preparing nutritious food for the children. On occasions where childcare was not needed, the hours would be made up with light housekeeping duties, house/garden maintenance (if appropriate), family laundry and babysitting.

DBS, first aid and references will be required in addition to childcare experience.
