Description

We are looking for a new flatmate to share with us in the historic Railway Village in Swindon. Dating from 1842 and built using local limestone, the building features high ceilings, big windows and solid internal walls. It is a very unique place to live, and among the oldest properties in Swindon, with the ground floor space having previous been used as a bakery, pub and now a community café. Today, the building is let by the Mechanics Institute Trust who also manage the ground floor café and other properties in the area.

The flat is a 5-minute walk from the train station and town centre, has a big park at the end of the road and is also near the Designer Outlet and National Trust sites. A major bus stop, Emlyn Square, is just outside the door, with immediate access to the 1/1A, 5, 10, 19/19A, 22, 53, 54, 55 and 60.

The large, south-facing, bedroom includes a double bed, drawers, clothes rail, mirror, bookshelf, desk, curtains, central heating and a door lock. You would also have access to a large living room, kitchen and shared bathroom. The bathroom includes a double shower, while the kitchen includes a double oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a full stock of cooking utensils. Parking may be available at an additional cost.

The room rent is £400/month. This covers everything except TV licence, broadband and TV (Virgin Media), which comes to £13/month, and a contribution to monthly expenses, which comes to £7.50/month.

You would be sharing with 1 male (27) and 2 females (21 and 23). We like to think we are all easy going and are looking for someone on a similar wavelength. We often catch up and chat about our days but, as we are all working professionals, this is not a party flat.

We have a mixture of interests that range from music, cycling, travel, cooking, gaming, reading and keeping well during these unusual times. We like to keep the flat clean and share the duties to maintain a nice space.

The Mechanics Institute Trust has a strict equality policy and is prepared to consider applications from those in receipt of Universal Credit, but the most important selection criteria will be good and harmonious chemistry with the other three residents. Furthermore, while there is a requirement for a holding deposit, this can be accumulated over a period if it is helpful.

If you are interested, send us a message and we can arrange a viewing (virtual or in person).
