Description
There will be three rooms available, #1 now and #5 within the next week or so (it is not quite finished) and #2 towards the end of July.
#1. This room is of a good size (4.0m x 3.3m), with a high ceiling, a large bay window and a (non-functional) fireplace, being white-painted and with laminate flooring. The furniture comprises a double-bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and chair, there still being plenty of space to add one's own other furniture, if required.
#2. This room is of a fair size (3.7m x 2.8m), with a high ceiling, rear-facing French window and the original 1906 (non-functional) fireplace, being white-painted and with laminate flooring. The furniture comprises a double-bed, wardrobe and chair, there still being plenty of space to add one's own other furniture, if required.
#5. The 'room' comprises an entrance hall, leading to a bedroom and a separate study (all self-contained), which is white-painted and with laminate flooring throughout. The bedroom (4.0m x 3.0m) is of a good size, with a bay window looking out over the county cricket ground and a wash basin. The furniture comprises a double-bed, wardrobe and chair, there still being plenty of space to add one's own other furniture, if required. The study (2.5m x 2.0m) has a shelf running at head level along one wall and the room has plenty of space to accommodate a desk and chair of one's own, with room for free-standing shelves or other furniture, if required. Almost needless to say, this living arrangement suits very well someone who works remotely from home.
Please note that, as Room #5 is being completed and awaits filming, the video posted here is of Room #1 (SpareRoom allows only one video in any case), it being a little larger than #2 and very similar in terms of size to #5, the latter having a lower and partially sloped ceiling and the extra study room with hallway - please see photos for Room #5 bedroom itself.
So, three of five bright, good-size bedrooms in a large, clean & pleasant house, with a cleaner attending to the communal areas once a week.
On foot, the big Tesco Extra is 5 minutes away, as is Aldi, & the town centre and railway station 10 minutes. Bus access is convenient and closer still, with the main bus station within 10 minutes' walk. Main road access is almost instant, with the M4 motorway being 10 minutes' drive away.
The bedrooms are all pleasant, each being slightly different; three have basins, one is particularly large, another has an additonal study room etc. All are white-painted, with a light birch (and insulated) laminated flooring. The windows are large, giving lots of light. The other rooms (kitchen, living room etc.) have more colour. To allow easy cleaning, only the stairs and landing are carpeted (to help minimise noise); all other areas are either hardwood or tiled, with that in the hallway being the original. The wireless coverage for free and continuous high-speed Virgin fibre internet is good and everyone currently in the house uses it to a varying extent to work from home.
The other areas of the house include living room, kitchen, shower room with toilet and a bathroom with shower & toilet. The wash basins in three of the bedrooms alleviate any pressure on the bath and shower rooms. There is a fair amount of hallway and landing areas, so the rooms are spread out, giving a reasonable degree of privacy although it doesn't feel like living completely on your own.
The kitchen is fully-equipped, with cooker, microwave, a large fridge, separate chest freezer, allocated storage cupboards, appliances & utensils. There is also a washing machine and a separate dryer, with an ironing board etc. and vacuum cleaner located in a hall cupboard.
The garden is relatively private, being surrounded by a high fence and is largely paved (having table & chairs), requiring little or no maintenance. Beyond the private service road to the rear is the county cricket ground and, beyond that, parkland with a running track.
The house (dated to 1906) has been fully but sympathetically renovated to a good standard and is legally compliant with gas, electrical and fire safety certification.
Based upon the living room and kitchen, there is usually a sociable (but not noisy) atmosphere. The others living in the house are placement or graduate professionals (in finance, engineering and chemical sectors), all are pleasant and easy-going, working partly or largely from home, so a similar person would be preferred.
Those living in the house clean their own rooms and are expected to keep the communal areas (kitchen, bath/shower rooms, living room) in a reasonable state in between the cleaner's weekly visits.
There is one of the two private, off-road parking spaces availale at £20 per month.
I hope this gives a good idea; if you are interested, please just drop me an message or telephone and I will be happy to answer any questions and we can see if we can go from there.
One last thing: I spend a fair amount of time around trees where the 'phone signals are variable so, if you only get through to my voicemail and are happy to leave a message, I can usually get back to you as quickly as it finds its way through to my handset.
Thank you for reading all this,
Geoff
