Double room available immediately in a clean, calm and friendly first-floor flat on Timbrell Street, Trowbridge (BA14). Buses are right outside or from the town centre (5 minutes' walk) and the train station is around 10–15 minutes' walk.

The room: Furnished with a double bed, two desks and a small wardrobe. Perfectly functional as a workspace or personal retreat, with good natural light.

The flat: Two-bed, shared between just the two of us. You'd also have use of a comfortable living room (largely spare day-to-day), a kitchen and a bathroom with over-bath shower. First floor, no parking – ideal if you don't need a space.

The costs: £600 per month all-in – that covers rent and all household bills, incl. broadband and Council Tax (band: A.)

About me: I'm Paul, 57, a self-employed WFH coder – quiet, friendly and sociable. I spend most of my time in my own room working or winding down, so the flat has a naturally relaxed, low-pressure atmosphere. I smoke but always outside; the flat itself is no smoking and no pets.

Who I'm looking for: Someone tidy, reasonably quiet and easy to live with – any age or background welcome, professional or student as long as you're working and can reliably cover your monthly costs. A bit of friendly chat and a geeky streak would be a bonus, but most importantly someone who treats the shared spaces with a bit of respect and just gets on with things.
