Description
Hi there! Nice to meet you.
I’m Kellie, I’m 31 and I’m looking for a place to call home. I would like to move back into Uxbridge, but West Drayton/Cowley/Yiewsley are all areas I’m open to moving into. I may consider places a little bit further out, but I would like to know more details about the area if so, and transport links for getting into Uxbridge particularly, since that’s an issue for me where I’m currently renting especially as I don’t drive.
Moving date: I’ve put a random date in March for moving, but I’m open to moving whenever really if I find the right place, as long as it’s affordable, and as long as I can give my current landlord a bit of notice! I’m open to moving later in the year, as it gives me a bit of time to save up a bit more money anyways.
Max rent and length of tenancy: I only really want to go to a max of £1000 a month if possible, and that’s ideally if bills/partial bills are included due to my finances- I am disabled and not currently working, so I need to ensure I can cover rent and bills on my benefits. I’ll explain what benefits I’m currently on separately below. In terms of tenancy length, I’m not looking for short lets, nor am I looking for accommodation that only lets me stay certain days of the week- I need somewhere I can live 7 days a week.
Benefits: I graduated university last year, and I’m hoping to get into a job related to my degree eventually when my health is a bit better. I’ve worked in the past part-time in both a pub and a supermarket, but for now I’m learning how to navigate my life a bit better after being recently diagnosed with both ADHD and autism. Due to this, I am currently supported by both PIP and UC (basic UC then also the housing element of it too, which pays my current rent.) I can provide a guarantor if requested though, and can show evidence I always paid rent both at uni and potentially a letter also from my current landlord- it’s important to me to pay my bills on time so I’ve never missed any payments!
Type of accommodation: Ideally, I’m searching for a studio, as being neurodivergent and living in shared spaces has been quite problematic for me previously due to uncooperative flatmates not cleaning/stealing food or kitchen equipment, and me not being able to confront them about it.
However! I’m open to considering a share, but I may need to meet potential flatmates first, know how clean you are, and if our schedules would be an issue (I tend to stay up late, 3/4am ish, sometimes later, this is partially due to an issue with insomnia, but also sometimes it’s to game/watch things online with my long distance, long-term friends- this is another reason I’m looking for my own space as I know a lot of shared accommodation has fairly thin walls and I hate disturbing people!)
I’m open to working out schedules anyways, but you can expect me to be friendly, open to communicating about things like household chores, bills, etc, and for me to be clean and tidy. I tend to stay in a lot, wouldn’t say I’m a big party person but will occasionally go out with friends- even then I do my best to be quiet and respectful that it’s a shared space when I get home and would never bring anyone over without asking first as well, and would respect if it’s a household that isn’t comfortable having anyone over at all.
Having said that, I do have a male partner who I would like to be able to visit every now and then if possible, as he helps me out a lot with my daily life when he can, though he does work a lot so he wouldn’t be there constantly!
Potential flatmates: I’ve included a bit of this part of the description above, but to add to it, I want to ensure I feel safe and comfortable where I live. As noted, I'm neurodivergent, but I’m also pansexual (SpareRoom only lets me put bisexual hahaha) and non-binary, and I don’t want to be sharing with anyone who doesn’t accept me as I am, nor would I want anyone to feel uncomfortable in my presence either! I’m fairly quiet until I get to know you, but will open up after a while once settled in. I generally just love for a house to actually feel like a home so wouldn’t mind also potentially hanging out around the house too once I’ve got a feel of what you’re like as a person :)
Interests: I love music, food (I’m pescatarian, I mainly eat veggie but do consume some fish- I don’t have any issues living with people who eat meat though,) hanging out and grabbing drinks/a meal/doing something like bowling or most other types of fun activities! I absolutely ADORE animals, I’ve lived with cats, dogs, fish and hamsters to name a few in the past, so if you also live with animals I am incredibly happy with that and I’m more than okay to help look after them if they’re around too :)
My big passion is gaming, so you’ll often find me on a PC or handheld console in my spare time. Editing videos is a hobby I’m gradually getting back into when I have the energy for it, and I try to practice doing so when I feel able to since it’s something I want to get into professionally if I can!
I also like to occasionally cosplay,
change my hair up a lot, get piercings and tattoos (when I can afford them!) and I wear some very funky outfits according to my friends! I’m also currently studying Japanese in my own time for fun, I hope to do some travelling in my future and Japan is high on my list :)
Gender of flatmates: Ideally if I have to share a place it would be with women or non-binary/trans folk, or men who fall somewhere on the LGBTQ+ spectrum! This isn’t an absolute hard line though as I appreciate housing is hard to find, not to mention as mentioned I have a straight male partner so it feels a little hypocritical to ask for no males in the household, though be assured he is an ally and is respectful! It’s mainly a trauma thing which I’m doing my best to work through, and I try not to let that past trauma define new people in my life- so it boils down to if you’re friendly, respectful and accommodating, then that’s the main thing :)
Sorry this is a bit wordy (I’m terrible at condensing descriptions haha,) but if you’ve read my profile then thank you so much for doing so and I hope to hear from you soon!
