Description
I am looking to relocate to Manchester as I believe my employment prospects will be considerably better there. However, I am finding it difficult to secure employment in Manchester while I am still living in Eastbourne. Recruitment agencies have advised me that they could potentially provide temporary work, but generally require me to be living locally before they can offer assignments. Similarly, some permanent employers are reluctant to consider applicants who are currently based outside the area. I am currently based in Eastbourne.
I am 56 years old, young at heart and enjoy an active lifestyle. I recently spent approximately eight months in Thailand and returned to the UK in June 2026. I am now looking to establish myself in Manchester and make it my long-term home.
My professional background is primarily in Credit Control, in which I have extensive experience. I am actively applying for suitable positions and am confident that, once I am based in Manchester and available to local employers and recruitment agencies, I will be able to secure employment, initially through temporary work if necessary, while continuing to seek a suitable permanent position.
I am currently receiving Universal Credit while I look for work. However, I can provide additional financial reassurance by paying two months' rent in advance, together with the required deposit, if this is acceptable to you. I also have savings available to cover any shortfall between my Universal Credit entitlement and the rent should it take me longer than anticipated to secure employment.
I would be a responsible, respectful and reliable tenant and would take great care of the property. I am looking for somewhere I can settle into and feel comfortable as my home, rather than simply somewhere to rent a room.
I can provide any documentation or references you may require. I can also provide a reference from my current tenancy, which I have maintained since October 2025, including throughout my time in Thailand. Prior to this, I had a ten-year tenancy at the same property with the same landlord, which I believe demonstrates my reliability and commitment as a tenant.
I sincerely hope you will consider my application based on my overall circumstances rather than dismissing it simply because I am currently receiving Universal Credit. I am making every effort to secure employment and establish myself in Manchester, and I am able to provide additional financial security through advance rent and my savings.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application. I would be very happy to provide any further information or documentation you may require.
Kind regards
