Academic Couple Looking for a 6-Month Home

Hi everyone!

We are a married couple from Turkey, both working as research assistants at universities and pursuing our PhDs in Sociology.

I will be joining Durham University as a Visiting Research Student for a six-month research stay, starting on 1 November 2026. My spouse is also planning an academic research visit to Sunderland. I will initially arrive on my own, and he will join me a few weeks later.

We are looking for a furnished studio, one-bedroom flat or a double room suitable for a couple, ideally from November 2026 until the end of April 2027. Newcastle is our first choice, as it offers convenient access to both Durham and Sunderland, but we are also open to accommodation in either city.

We both have stable, regular salaries from our universities in Turkey and our research visits are supported by scholarship funding.

We are tidy, considerate and easy-going people who appreciate a quiet and comfortable home. We would ideally prefer a private bathroom and bills included, with a maximum budget of £1,000 per month.

Good public transport connections to Durham and Sunderland are important to us, particularly easy access to railway stations.
