Description
Hi prospective house mate,
Please do read through my advert before contacting me. I have very specific requirements. If you do message, please write more than one sentence and provide a little detail as to what you have available. This way, it saves time for us all, thank you.
I currently live in southern England in Trowbridge, Wiltshire and I am looking to relocate north as soon as I have a new place to live. I’ve taken a lot of time and pride to construct my advert so if you can take 5 or so minutes to look through it, that would be gratefully appreciated. 😊
A little bit about me:
My name is Miguel, I’m single and 52 years of age but have a very young mindset and positive outlook on life. I’m a strict non-smoker and I am NOT a vegetarian, vegan etc. I am not religious so if you do have a specific faith that you follow and conform to certain rules, with respect, I will not be a good match for your home.
I like a peaceful life, either enjoying my own company or fitting into any social situation and always love a good laugh! I have many interests and get on with anyone from any walk of life. I enjoy many sports (footy of course) and attend the gym regularly as it keeps me not only physically fit, but it is also great for my mental health too.
I love music, film, comedy, fashion, travel, nature, wildlife and so on but my main passion in life is aviation! I spend a lot of my time making model kits which is associated with being a nerd and dorky 😊I don’t really care as I love it and being a creative individual, it allows me really to explore that side of myself. I have also been collecting kits for over 30 years to hopefully sell off one day. This hobby allows me to really use my brain, test my patience and create a masterpiece. There is a note further on about storage of my kit collection.
My family originate from Madeira, and I am very proud of my background and heritage, the island will always be in my heart. Sadly, both of my parents are no longer with us and last September, I inherited the family home. It was with a heavy heart that I made the decision to sell but I’m a great believer that you should live in the moment. I therefore made the decision that with the sale proceeds, I would move north and buy a home outright, a very fortunate position to be in at the age of 52. The prices of property here in the south are an absolute joke hence moving north and a lot of people down south are a bit grumpy 😊. I’m originally from Guernsey and I moved here permanently in 2009. I love the UK and I’m very excited about this move as it is a massive new chapter in my life, this is a perfect opportunity to embrace a new start!
So, what am I looking for accommodation wise:
I’m looking for an (all inclusive) LARGE, clean, cosy, contemporary warm double room, in the landlord’s modern home. I need a fair amount of wardrobe and storage space for clothes and shoes, please see the storage and rent section below. My new home will be a peaceful and quiet environment. I’m most certainly a very considerate individual in the company of others having lived in many house shares situations.
Location:
As the purpose of my move is to buy a home in due course, my initial location is not particularly poignant. I’ve not settled on a firm location to buy a home as such, I will decide on this later. Moving to a completely new city does not bother me in the slightest as I embrace change and it is all an adventure to me. I want to be in the north as I can’t house search whilst living in the South. I want to be near major cities for work ideally, so the following cities/County are of interest in no specific order:
• Sheffield
• Leeds and York
• Manchester
• Liverpool
• Lancashire
Close to any of these cities would be great if the area is safe and friendly. I will require decent transport links, train ideally, although you cannot rely on them down south so it’s probably not that different north of the UK. If there is access to a supermarket and a gym, this would be a bonus. I am also realistic and understand that you can’t always have everything on your doorstep. I’ve got absolutely no issues with pets, so if you have a dog or a cat, awesome. I love animals and intend to get a dog of my own one day once I have bought a place as they enlighten our lives SO much. No charge for dog or cat sitting 😊. I’m a very tidy person and would certainly be happy to assist when where cleaning and general domestic duties are concerned.
Rent and Storage:
I have set myself a maximum monthly budget of £650 which is essentially what I am paying down south at present. I have been quite surprised at some of the rental prices I have seen as I naturally thought rentals would be a little cheaper in the north. £650 is my absolute maximum and I would obviously prefer to pay less. I would also like one rental cost and nothing extra, no bills, Council Tax etc. Now, this will be a big deal breaker as I think it is fair to say that I have a ridiculous number of personal belongings. I have added photos of clothing and more importantly, items I have stored in the garage where I presently live. Please take a look at the video of this to get an idea of volume as there is A LOT! I don’t want to put any of this into a storage unit as the cost is ridiculous, a 100 sq ft unit is between £180 - £200 per month, an absolute joke! I am also considering leaving these items in situ temporarily and then move them north at a later date.
Miscellaneous:
I fully appreciate that as a homeowner, you would ideally like to meet the prospective tenant in person, that’s a given. If you felt that you did have a place to offer, we could perhaps arrange a video call initially and go from there? It’s a very tricky situation being so far away. I’ll be relocating without a job and intend to find something once I am settled. I appreciate that this may put someone off but searching for work whilst living here is not an option. I’ve years of administrative employment experience so finding work will not be a problem.
NB: This may involve the opportunity to work from home occasionally so again, please just bear this in mind. I have seen may adverts that where WFH is not an option.
I don’t need parking, as I do not own a vehicle and have no plans to purchase one anytime soon.
😊 You have just read A LOT of information and I don’t like writing stuff like this as it’s too serious. Life has enough stresses in it, and I remember when I was a kid at secondary school a teacher wrote the following. “Miguel is inclined to act the clown and is always looking for laugh!”, brilliant, he knew me inside out! Looking for a home is a serious business but let’s just try and make it fun.
Thank you EVER so much for reading through and your patience is massively appreciated. If you feel you may have a home I can share with you, please do get in touch!
Best wishes and hope to speak soon hopefully…
