Description
Big bright double room available in this lovely two up two down Bedminster house. Available from 1 August.
The room is unfurnished, but a desk, wardrobe and bedframe are available if wanted (from previous tenant). Lots of space to work from home and to store things too. Room overlooks the quiet St. Johns Road, and gets plenty of sunlight.
About the house/location: a spacious two bedroom house, well located in Bedminster - 2 minutes walk to the edge of bustling East Street and likewise North Street, very close to local shops, cafes, supermarkets and other local amenities. 25 minutes walk to Bristol Temple Meads Station, 15-20 mins walk to Wapping Wharf/Bristol Harbour and the city centre. 6 minutes walk to Bedminster train station, and very close to bus stops (2 mins walk) that serve Bristol city centre and Bristol Airport.
The house has a private patio garden with built in flowerbeds (keen gardeners/plant-lovers welcome to get involved!) - in the summer it’s overflowing with a very productive raspberry bush.
Big kitchen, which has an open plan connection to the large living room. The living room has a piano that can be used and a sofa bed that guests can comfortably stay on.
Bathroom has recently been refurbished - shower/bath combo.
There is plenty of attic storage space, and also space underneath the stairs to keep a bicycle.
All bills are included in the £1100pcm including fast EE fibre plus broadband (average 67mb/second), council tax (band B), water, gas and electricity. No contribution to deposit is required. I am a long-term tenant at the property (I’ve been there 5 years) which is administered by a private landlord, and so I have the tenancy/contract with him as lead tenant. In terms of somebody joining me in the house, the landlord will just require basic Right to Rent checks from/regarding you.
About me:
I am a passionate musician, composer, workshop leader/educator. I work freelance and so sometimes have periods working from home/coffee shops, and some periods where I'm travelling for 3-5 days at a time. Music is my vocation/passion - I play trombone and piano (and occasionally practice in the house, but can be flexible about this!), and mainly play jazz, improvised music and other groove based music. My work also involves working with community groups and young people of varied ages, from early years to teenagers, to older people living with dementia. The work is often centred around helping these groups to create new music and find confidence, connection and joy.
In my spare time I love to chill out at home with a good book or film - I also love to get outside, whether going on a hike/getting into nature, or wandering the city and cafe hopping/catching up with friends. I'm a regular gym goer and enjoy playing 5 a side football. Love a good film at the cinema, and a long hang out at a board game cafe.
Ultimately I'm a calm, relaxed person that is interested in people, and am a very easy going/flexible house mate.
What I'm looking for in a housemate:
I'm very open - mainly looking for people who are similarly flexible/ easy-going and calm, who have good and open communication, and have a positive outlook on life. If we can also communicate well in keeping the house tidy and clean , and regarding having guests/friends over, this is ideal. An artistically minded/creative person/people is a bonus, but not essential!
A note on Pets:
The house until recently had a lovely cat who has sadly departed and is sorely missed . What this does mean is the house is set up for cats, with a microchip operated cat flap going out onto the private garden space . The landlord is happy for there to be cat(s) in the house. In case you are looking to move with your cat - they are most welcome!
