Description

Hello! We are Bethan and Sofía, looking for a third housemate to join us in our home in Windmill Hill when the lovely George leaves us to go travelling on 11th October.

The room

A spacious and light double bedroom - the biggest bedroom in the house - with a single built-in wardrobe and a small (decorative only) fireplace. The room comes unfurnished, but George may be willing to leave or sell on some of his current furniture if it's wanted.

The area

We're on a quiet street with a good amount of free parking available and very friendly neighbours - including an active non-moany Whatsapp group which acts as a local swap-shop, source of information and general nice-ness! We're a stone's throw from Victoria Park, about 5mins walk from Bedminster Station and 20 or so from Temple Meads. All local amenities/shops etc are within 15mins walk, as is North Street, and in 25mins you're basically in the centre of town.

The house

It's a decent-sized Victorian terrace that could do with a lot of TLC, but it's a great house packed full of character and we're very much making it home. In terms of communal space, we have a living room, large kitchen-dining room, a bike room-cum-yoga room (or, that's the plan for it, at least!), a small laundry room, a large bathroom, and an "emergency" toilet in an outhouse in the small formerly impenetrable garden - complete with out of control pear and plum trees! It's always been a lovely space to hang out in, but we're now slowly turning it into something that feels more garden and less jungle!

NB The former housemates had left the whole house and garden in a pretty sorry state, and we have scrubbed, sorted and done many a tip trip to get it some way to feeling like our home. We would love someone to move in who cares about where they live and is happy to do their bit looking after it and contributing to it, so we can all feel happy in as lovely a space as possible :)

The housemates

Sofía works for the council and studies psychology part-time and Bethan is about to go back to uni full time to study Speech and Language Therapy. We both practice a lot of yoga and meditation - Bethan is also training to be a yoga teacher -, we're both vegetarian and into languages: Sofía is Argentinian, so a native Spanish speaker, and Bethan speaks French fluently and fumbles around in Spanglish with a very patient Sofía helping and correcting! We are also enthusiastic (rather than skilled!) plant and flower growers - additional flora very welcome!
Bethan likes cooking and is happy to share meals - when we do house meals together, which we'd like to have at least once a month, Sofía is always a willing washer-upper! We're both clean and tidy and respectful of the communal space, and we have a regular cleaning rota. We both love live music and are keen travellers. Sofía can often be found trying her hand at new skills like silver-smithing and creative writing, while Bethan loves comedy and board game nights.

Essentially, we get on well, are open communicators, respectful, happy to chat, hang out and share, but also have our own lives. All in, it makes for a chilled and happy place to live, and we look forward to welcoming someone similar-minded to join us.

The landlords and other stuff

We have private landlords who live about 10mins away and are very responsive to any problems we encounter in the house (not that there have been many). The landlords will want to meet our new choice of housemate, get some references and check that you can comfortably afford the rent and bills. (At the moment, bills come to about £140 per month per person including council tax - band B and, if another full time student moves in, we'll get a 25% discount.) We'll need to give them about 2-3 weeks to get that sorted, so we're hoping to have made our choice of new housemate by the weekend of 20th September, if not before.

Well done if you've read all the way to the end! Get in touch if this sounds like your vibe and please let us know a bit about you.

We look forward to hearing from you :)
