Cottage community looking for a housemate

We are a group of friends, most of whom met by living in our five adjacent cottages and we are looking for someone to join us from July 2026 till October 2026, with opportunity to stay longer if another room frees up.

You will be sharing the house with Manav (Consultant, 23), Jasmine (Publishing Manager, 29) and her cat Gato. We're a friendly household and normally spend some time hanging out in the evenings, and you're welcome to join as much or as little as you'd like!

We unfortunately can't take another cat as Gato only likes human housemates!

- - About the room - -

• Downstairs double room, comes with double bed and wardrobe.

• The room is available from early July 2026 till early October 2026 (with potential to stay on a longer-term basis in one of the five cottages, should a room open up)

• Rent in summer months approximately £650 (including bills)

- - The property - -

• All of the cottages are quirky and characterful. The house is on the old side but we love our home very much.
Although the kitchen is small, we've managed to feed 30 people for our annual Christmas dinner plus regular potluck parties, so it can be done.

- - Location - -

• Though technically in Trumpington, the town centre is 15 minutes away at a leisurely cycle speed, Cambridge & Cambridge South train stations are 8 minutes by bicycle, we're just down the road from Addenbrooke's Hospital, the M11 is a 5 minute drive away and housemates commute all over the city every day. It’s a pretty convenient location.

• We have off-road parking, a green space with apple/plum trees, a pond, and a hammock. Theres also a garden where some of the housemates grow veg and pretty flowers.

- - About the other cottages --

• Between the five cottages there are 12 people ranging from 23 to 38 with a range of sexual identities. The household you would be moving into is entirely queer but we happy to accept anyone who is respectful regardless of orientation/identity.

• Other almost-housemates (in adjacent but technically separate houses) include an engineer, a hospital receptionist, an animal hospital nurse, a book cover designer, various scientists, a Master's student in medieval history and another friendly cat. We're also quite international, with American, Taiwanese, French, Cambridge locals, northerners and a single Londoner (past formations have included Canadian, South African, Australian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Italian, Scottish, French, Polish, Greek, Spanish, and US housemates). So a pretty varied bunch.

• We are a lot like a family; this means we really want to find someone who will be happy living here! We like to be quite social. People across the cottages sometimes play games, watch films or tv, eat together, go for walks, play guitar/ukulele and sing, have fires, go swimming in the river and occasionally go on trips to places. We know no one is sociable all the time, but we'd like to find someone who would find that aspect a positive thing.

What we are looking for:

• Someone who is tidy. We have a rota for cleaning, and would ideally like to keep to it.

• Interested in joining in on things!

• We can freely communicate with each other about anything :)
