Description

One double bedroom available with double bed, wardrobe, bookcase and desk.
For single occupancy only. I am looking for a female guest who will stay long term. ONE YEAR AND THREE MONTHS. Room is available from mid June 2024.
Live-in landlady.
STRICTLY NON SMOKING, inside and around the house (garden, patio, etc) and looking for a SUPERCLEAN person.
The rent includes gas, electricity, water, and fast fibre Internet and Council Tax.
The house is suitable for professionals, postgraduates and studious undergraduates. I am looking for very clean, quiet and (a must) non-smoking individuals.
For the common areas, cleaning of the house will be shared amongst us all on a rota basis.

Please Note: The house is not suitable for those who work from home all the time as renovation work is carried out during the day in some parts of the house.

The house is situated in a little cul-de-sac in the lovely village of Ushaw Moor, 15 minutes bus ride to Durham bus station (43 and 48 buses). For university students and staff the daily unlimited ticket costs £1 a day.
By car, the city centre and the Science Site (Main University Campus) are 8-10 minutes drive. Parking at the house is nearby.

The rooms are spacious double bedrooms in a three-bedroom house with open views of the countryside. They are fully furnished with double beds, desks, wardrobes and bookcases.
Beddings and towels are included.
There is no television in the house, but the house benefits from a fast fibre connection Internet. I also own around a thousands books.
There is a sizeable garden with fruit trees and a vegetable plot where I grow my own vegetables.

The village is self sufficient. It has the COOP supermarket - 5 minutes walk - that is open 7am-10pm every day, seven days a week.
Take aways (pizzas/kebab, fish and chips, Chinese and Indian), a convenience store, the Post Office, a pharmacy, two hair dressers, a beautician and florist are all within walking distance from the house.

Two National Cycle Routes (14 and 70) are a few minutes away, with woodland tracks for walkers, runners and wild mushroom foragers (like myself). There are two rivers/streams -the Deerness and the Browney. In front of the house there is an allotment site with hens, cockerels and a goat. It is indeed a rural location, yet the lively Newcastle upon Tyne with its busy nightlife is only 30 minutes drive away (20 minutes by train).

I am a former university researcher and now textile artist- I own a collection of vintage sewing machines that are on display in my sewing corner in the living room where I spend most of my day.
