Double bedroom in country cottage near Bridport

A pleasant, light, furnished double bedroom is offered for rent in a peaceful Dorset village.

You would need a car to get around - there is a parking space outside the house with access to EV charging. Bridport is about 6 miles away and Dorchester 9, with Maiden Newton about a mile away offering basic shops and hardware store, petrol station and GP surgery. There are beaches about 5 miles away and good walking in the area.

The house has 3 bedrooms, a spacious bath/shower room, well equipped kitchen, utility, living room and a large sun room/dining room. There is a large garden to the rear with resident hens. There is oil central heating and a log burner, efficient wifi and a smart tv. Mobile signal is better with some providers than others but wifi calling works well. All bills and council tax are included in the rent.

I am away during university term times for the coming year so for a lot of the time you would have the house to yourself. When I’m in residence my dog will be too, so you need to be fine with dogs and not allergic to them!

I am looking for a preferably female lodger who should be a responsible, mature, professional person with initiative, tidy in communal areas, non smoking and willing to do basic daily care of chickens and plants while I’m away (there will be support for this - and probably eggs too). Initially for a year but extending the time can be negotiated.
