Description
Hey guys, I'm Jamie 👋🏻
I have three rooms available in a four-bed house located right in the heart of the Lanes, down a quiet side street.
I've lived in the house for the last year. Sadly, the other three people I'm living with are either moving out of town or downsizing with their partners. I'm hoping to stay on in the house for at least another year, and it would be great to find cool people to share the space with and soak up the vibes of the Lanes :)
THE ROOMS
A really spacious double on the first floor comes with a desk, chest of drawers, double bed, and built-in bookshelves. £770pcm
A medium-sized double on the third floor comes with a double bed. Loads of natural light, which is glorious. £630pcm
A small double, also on the third floor, comes with a double bed and a built-in hanging cupboard. £580pcm
EXTRA COSTS
Utility bills average £65 per person per month.
Council tax is about £50 per person per month.
The security deposit is £687.
ABOUT THE HOUSE
The open-plan kitchen and living room are gigantic and a great space. Some of the fixtures and fittings are a bit dated, but the landlord is slowly updating them and is open to us making the space our own. I've already put up shelves and hanging rails, and have a few other DIY/Marketplace makeover projects on the go, so it'd be lovely to have a partner in crime for that! That said, the kitchen is well-kitted out with ample worktop and storage space, plus a dishwasher.
Even though it's on the basement level, it gets loads of natural light during the day from the garden. The garden itself is a work in progress but lovely, I'm currently building a herb bed and thinking about trying to get some tomatoes going :)
Also on the basement floor is a WC with a washing machine and dryer. There's a toilet and shower room on the second floor, and a bathroom on the third, for anyone after a soak after a long day!
There's quite a bit of storage throughout the house, mainly in the basement and attic.
The landlords are a husband and wife who run an NGO in Nepal, not your typical landlords, genuinely lovely, respectful, and fair. They're looking for people to be good custodians of the house (and help them pay the mortgage, of course!) a rare thing these days.
ABOUT ME
I'm 27, just finished a history degree as a mature student at Sussex. Currently working in retail while applying to grad schemes, looking to stay in Brighton for at least a year.
I'm tidy, and cycle through hobbies pretty regularly, current favourites are DIY, yoga, cooking, and boxing. Not much of a partier these days, more into having people round for dinner, chill pub quizzes, or gigs.
I spend most of my time during the week out of the house. On weekends I'm sometimes at my partner's, and she'll occasionally stay over here too.
IDEAL HOUSEMATES
Looking for people who, like me, would enjoy making this house a home and a cool space to live in. I'm pretty open and easygoing, but respect for communal spaces and other people's space is non-negotiable.
If you're interested or have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
All the best,
Jamie :)
