Description
My home is a spacious and well looked after 3-bed apartment close to Preston Park and an easy walk into Brighton centre or the main station, Preston Park station and London Road station. There is a very good bus service with stops nearby.
There is a large bathroom, which is exclusive to you except when my children visit. I have an ensuite for my own use. There are two balconies – one for my room and a larger one off the lounge and there is a roof terrace which anyone living in the block can use.
About three years ago I decided to rent one of the bedrooms to a lodger and she has just left to buy her first house with her boyfriend. My experience of her living here was very stress free and we communicated well, which is why I have a preference for a female lodger. She has told me she is very happy to talk to you about what it is like living here.
Your room has a double bed (Ottoman-style so plenty of storage space) and a large Ikea wardrobe. It is well lit with natural light during the day.
I keep the third bedroom for my children when they visit.
The lounge and kitchen are one large space and open onto the main balcony. Kitchen has induction hob, versatile oven and full-spec microwave oven in addition to a large fridge/freezer and dish washer.
I rarely have to use the gas-fired central heating because the place is so well insulated. There is an air-conditioning unit ready for next year’s heatwaves!
Rent is £750 and includes bills and council tax.
About me
I’m a retired Organisation Development consultant, divorced with three children.
I have an active social and volunteering life – choir, walking with friends, lots of live music of all sorts, theatre, talks.
My main voluntary work is with a charity I helped set up which runs a small community centre in Brighton. I also chair the Scrutiny Panel for the housing association which owns the development where I live.
I get on very well with my ex-wife who now lives in France and I see my three children regularly. One lives in Bournemouth and has two children of her own, my other daughter is a marine conservationist working for Natural England and based in Exeter, my son is a Civil Engineer working out of Bristol. They all visit from time to time and I keep one of the three bedrooms available for them.
I am interested in other people but I also value time to myself and a calm home environment. I like the place to be clean and tidy (within reason!). I try to be clear about what I want and encourage others to do the same.
