Description
Hello there! We’re looking for a new housemate
*About the room*
A large, bright room with beautiful bay windows and an ornate built-in-style wardrobe. The room comes unfurnished, so you’ll be able to make it your own.
It’s on the first floor, conveniently positioned between the main bathroom and the living room.
*About the house*
We’re a maisonette on Portland Road in West Hove, with plenty of shops, pubs, cafés and takeaway restaurants nearby.
There are great bus links, including the 49, 46, and 2, and Aldrington train station is just a 5-minute walk away.
The house has:
Two bathrooms - a main bathroom with a shower over the bath, plus a separate shower room with a toilet
A spacious kitchen with plenty of room for cooking and storage
Additional storage cupboards in the hallway
A large living room, which is a lovely social space with a dining table, sofa, TV, and plenty of board games! 🎲
The kitchen is quite large, although it is split across two rooms.
*Bills*
Bills aren’t included in the rent, but they currently work out at roughly £150 per person per month.
This covers:
Council tax
Energy
Water
Wi-Fi
TV licence
A cleaner who comes fortnightly
Some bills, particularly energy and water, can vary depending on usage.
Council Tax Band: C
EPC Rating: D
We share responsibility for administering the bills and use Splitwise to keep track of who owes what, so everyone pays their fair share.
*Rent*
£572.50 per person per month (£2,290 total).
The estate agent has told us that there will be a small rent increase, but the new amount is currently under review. Once we’re given a confirmed price, I’ll update the advert accordingly.
*About us*
The current housemates are Dinah, Rob + Max.
We’re a bunch of 20-somethings who started off as strangers living together, but we’ve all gotten along really well. We sometimes watch films, play games, and hang out together, while also being respectful of everyone’s privacy and need for downtime.
We all work together to keep the house clean, comfortable, and happy.
Although we do have friends over from time to time, this is not a party house. When we have friends over, we try to be considerate of everyone and let people know in advance through our WhatsApp group chat.
*About you*
We’re looking for someone who is:
Friendly
Quiet and considerate
Clean and tidy
Proactively communicative
Happy to share responsibility for looking after the home
Ideally, you’ll be someone who enjoys having a friendly household and occasional shared time together, while also understanding the importance of having your own space and solitude.
If this sounds like your kinda vibe, do get in touch! Tell us a little bit about yourself so we can get to know you and your personality
I’m aware of SpareRoom’s early-bird paywall, so please press the “Show Interest” button, and I’ll get back to you when SpareRoom lets me
-A few caveats-
Unfortunately, we can’t have pets, as a couple of us have allergies to cats and dogs.
We’re not accepting full-time students. We will, however, consider part-time Master’s students because of the council tax implications.
We’re only looking for one person, so unfortunately we can’t accept couples.
We’re only considering people who are planning to stay here long-term.
All the relevant information is included in this advert, and I’ll update it regularly if anything changes.
Looking forward to hearing from you! ✨
