Description
A sociable and friendly independent older Spanish lady is seeking a female sharer for her home. In exchange for a low-cost arrangement (free rent + £60 per month towards bills), the sharer will provide up to 15 hours a week of light help and companionship.
About the Lady
She is 92, fluent in English and Spanish, and enjoys reading, conversation, sudokus, classical and flamenco music, philosophy, current affairs, cooking healthy meals, and watching dramas. She values her independence but likes the reassurance of someone else being at home, especially overnight. She gets around the house with a walking frame and prefers to use a wheelchair when outside.
Help needed (approx. 15 hrs per week):
• Light household chores (tidying, bins, occasional cleaning)
• Shopping/errands
• Help with simple tech (iPhone, TV, email etc.)
• Tidying the garden
• Occasional outings (with wheelchair)
• Friendly presence and some social interaction, while respecting personal space.
We are looking for someone with initiative and warmth who is naturally attentive and caring. We do not want someone who is just going to retreat 24/7 into their free room. We need a bit of empathy and interaction!
Accommodation offered:
• A recently decorated double bedroom with desk, storage and patio doors to the garden
• Own (mainly exclusive) use of a family bathroom, as the Householder has an en-suite
• Shared use of sitting room, kitchen and garden
Location:
• 15–20 mins walk to Bickley or Petts Wood stations, or short bus ride to Bromley South
• Local shops within a few minutes’ walk
What we are looking for:
• Warm, friendly, considerate person (ideally not a party animal – home most evenings by 10pm)
• Someone reliable, with initiative and intelligence
• A person who values both companionship and personal space
• Spanish language a bonus but not essential
Application instructions:
If you are interested, please send an email with the following information:
1. Your full name, age, and current occupation or studies
2. Where you are living now and whether you plan to continue working/studying locally
3. Why this homeshare arrangement appeals to you
4. Any experience you have with older people, volunteering, or helping others
5. Your usual weekly routine (e. g. evenings at home, weekends away, hobbies)
6. Confirm you are happy to provide two references (e. g. employer/academic and previous landlord/host) and a Basic DBS check (or are willing to apply for one at your own cost – approx. £18)
7. Your phone number so we can arrange a call if it looks like a good fit
