Description
A warm, friendly and interesting older person with reduced mobility is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.
This person would really benefit from some practical help around the house including shopping, cooking a few meals, and help with light household chores, hanging up washing, carrying things, ad hoc other practical help and errands, plus the friendly reassurance of having someone around their home in the evenings/overnight.
The accommodation on offer is a good-sized furnished single bedroom with wardrobe and bookcase, and a shower room that is primarily for their sole use (shared occasionally with visiting guests). The Sharer will also have access to another room that can be used as a study/sitting room for the Sharer. Plus shared use of the rest of the home including the kitchen/diner and garden.
The property is in a quiet residential area of Orpington, just 1 mile (a 12-minute walk) from the train station and very close to the centre of Orpington. The fast train takes just 15 minutes to London Bridge and there are also direct trains to other London stations including Charing cross and Victoria.
The person is very ‘with it’ and chatty. Their interests include reading The Guardian, listening to Radio 4, watching TV drama, playing board games and card games, amateur dramatics, church social events, and going to the theatre and cinema. It is a busy and friendly household with regular family visitors.
As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker who ideally shares some of the person’s interests.
If you are interested, please email a little information about yourself, your hours of availability, if you can commit for at least a year, and why you are interested in, and think you may be suitable for, this share. We can then give you more details about this specific situation.
We are a Homeshare agency specialising in finding Sharers for people who have a spare room and would welcome and benefit from some company and practical help. As a Community Interest Company, the monthly payment goes towards the running of the scheme.
