Description

Small Double Room in Beautiful, Friendly & Quiet Home

We have a lovely furnished small double room available in our home, situated in a very quiet and sought-after residential area.

Although the bedroom itself is a small double, it has an excellent amount of storage, including a very large double-door built-in mirrored wardrobe, a double bed with under-bed storage and two bedside tables with additional storage. There is also a wall-mounted Smart TV. All bedroom furniture is provided; you would just need to provide your own bedding, duvet, pillows, etc.

The house is decorated and maintained to a very high standard throughout. We also have a beautiful garden with a garden room, which you’re welcome to enjoy. There is no private parking, but there is plenty of on-street parking and there is never a problem finding a space. It’s a lovely, quiet street.

You’ll be living with myself and my partner. My partner is an NHS doctor and generally works Monday to Friday, 9–5, while I work night shifts in social care, specialising in dementia care. We’ve had lodgers on and off for the past couple of years, so we’re very used to sharing our home and want anyone who moves in to feel comfortable and at home here.

We also have one female professional lodger who works as cabin crew, so she works varied shifts and is away frequently. When she isn’t working, she spends a lot of her free time visiting her boyfriend in Leeds, so she is very rarely at the house. Because everyone works different patterns, the house generally feels very peaceful and never overcrowded.

We’re a very friendly and relaxed household and are looking for someone with a similar outlook. We’re clean and tidy, but we certainly don’t expect anyone to tiptoe around or feel like they can’t make themselves at home. There’s plenty of storage throughout the house, so we simply ask that personal belongings are put away and everyone cleans up after themselves.

I generally do the majority of the cleaning in the communal areas, but everyone is expected to muck in and help keep the house clean and tidy. This might simply mean putting the vacuum around or doing something that needs doing rather than leaving it for somebody else. It’s really just about everyone doing their bit and treating the house as their home too.

The bathroom is shared with our female lodger and was completely refitted this year, with plenty of individual storage. My partner and I have our own bathroom and would only occasionally use this one if we had guests. As the other lodger is away so frequently, in reality you’ll often have the bathroom completely to yourself and you should never struggle to use it.

The two lodgers share responsibility for keeping their bathroom clean. We simply ask that toiletries and personal belongings are put away in the storage provided, which makes it much easier for both people to keep the bathroom clean and tidy. It’s a beautiful, well-kept home and we’d like to keep it that way.

We all work and appreciate being able to come home and relax, so although this is a friendly, welcoming and relaxed home, it isn’t a party household. We just ask that everyone is considerate of each other, particularly as we all work different hours.

Friends and partners are absolutely welcome to visit, although we have a maximum once-a-week guest rule so that the house remains comfortable for everyone who lives here.

We also have a small household kitty for communal essentials. There’s no set date for this; we simply top it up as and when needed, normally £10 per person approximately every 4–6 weeks. This covers shared items such as toilet roll, kitchen roll, kitchen foil and other everyday communal essentials. Personal items aren’t included, so laundry detergent, fabric conditioner, toiletries and similar items would be provided by yourself.

We also have Mabel, our lovely Goldendoodle, who is extremely friendly, low-shedding and very much part of the household, so you’ll need to be comfortable living with a dog.

We’re looking for a female lodger in full-time employment whose usual working day is based at their workplace rather than working from home. Unfortunately, we’re unable to accommodate students or regular home working.

More than anything, we’re looking for someone who is friendly, clean, respectful and considerate and would like a relaxed, welcoming and peaceful place to call home.

We accept smokers but no
Smoking in the house it is to be kept outside .

If you’re interested, please get in touch and tell us a little about yourself, what you do for work and what you’re looking for.
