I have a lovely double bedroom available in my home, and I’m looking for a calm, friendly housemate to share it with.
The house
Big open-plan kitchen and dining area, flowing into a big living room
Gorgeous high ceilings with wooden beams
Bright bathroom with a shower over the bath
Large private garden with patio and seating (perfect for summer evenings)
Parking at the front and a washing machine
The room
Furnished double bedroom (double bed, mattress, chest of drawers, bedside table and hanging rail), though I’m happy to remove the furniture if you’d rather bring your own
Available from 2nd December, possibly a little earlier for the right person
The money
Rent is £850 a month, plus bills split 50/50 (roughly £340 each)
Background referencing is done by the letting agency, and your deposit will be protected in a TDS scheme
Location
15 minutes’ drive to Berkhamsted or Tring, with trains to London Euston in about 30 minutes
Both towns have great restaurants and bars, and there’s a Waitrose and M&S nearby, with a Lidl on its way
About me
I’m a 39-year-old woman working in publishing, and an outgoing introvert. I’ll try most things and love a long walk and a matcha with friends. I’m often out and about at weekends, in London or Berkhamsted, or up the M1 to see my family in the North, but I’m just as happy with a quiet night in with a film, a book or whatever I’m bingeing at the moment (currently Mad Men).
I’m in the office three days a week and work from home the other two. I’m at the gym most mornings (though I’m a big believer in balance) and I batch cook once or twice a week. I really like a tidy home, and I’d be open to getting a cleaner in.

I’m looking for a female housemate aged 30–45. Someone polite, calm and tidy, who’d enjoy the occasional film or food-spot hunt together but also respects personal space. Non-smokers and light drinkers only, no parties please. Ideally no pets, though I’d be very happy to consider a cat!
