Description
AVAILABILITY - Blinds are being installed in the 20th, otherwise room is available now.
The rooms
There are three rooms on the top floor. Two are double bedrooms and one will be a guest room/working from home space. One double room is already taken.
Wardrobe in situ, airbed is for scale, some have wanted to bring their own bed so haven't bought one yet but the bedroom will be furnished if you need it.
Long-term stay is £800 a month including bills (within reason).
All of these will be on lodger's agreements. Deposit is one month's rent, with one month up front.
The area
Unless you're Jewish, I know you've never heard of Borehamwood. It's a small town in Hertsmere on the very edge of London, so close you could literally walk to the border if you really wanted to. It's essentially one massive housing estate surrounded by fields and film and TV production studios (Sky, and the BBC both have productions here - this is where EastEnders is filmed!).
The house is 5-10 minutes from three bus stops. Uber operates in the area. There is a Beryl bike scheme almost directly outside the house to the station. Elstree and Borehamwood station is on the 24 hour Thames Link and will get you to Kings Cross in 25 minutes and West Hampstead where you can change onto the Overground and Jubilee lines in 14 minutes. There is free residential parking and you can store a bike here.
There is a retail park right next to the high street, where you can get everything you need. Nearest shop is a Co-op ten minutes' walk away. 24 hour gym in town.
The house
The house has a garden, living room and a converted garage that I intend to make a library which will be available for working from home.
The kitchen is kosher dairy and so you must be vegetarian in the house. I tried to be accommodating about this with other housemates but after having to replace an entire set of dishes, I've got to be firm about not bringing any meat products into the house at all unless you are Jewish and you know what you're doing.
Me
I am 35, neurodivergent, LGBT, and an NHS manager and occupational therapist who works at the local hospital. I work from home one day a week and from time to time.
I am largely over having house parties until 8am though I have been no stranger to them. I spend most of my evenings pottering on personal projects/activism but I like having housemates around I can say hello and chat to. I like having friends round, and you are welcome to do the same (within reason).
You
You can bring house-trained pets.
You can express your needs and communicate in an effective way that does not bring drama.
You are veg*n or happy to keep the meat-eating outside the house.
You are happy to work around the eight days a year I have to get rid of all wheat from the house for Passover.
You agree not to wear flipflops in the house. I have spent thirty years having to listen to rubber slapping feet, I absolutely hate it and I will not listen to it a second more.
I have a longer advert that I will send you if you are interested.
