Description
Hello! I have a double bedroom available in a quiet, leafy residential area in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.
The room has a double bed, study desk with shelving, and a large wardrobe with plenty of storage. The flat has a shared bathroom, comfortable living room and kitchen.
The flat is around a 10-minute walk from Glasgow University and about five minutes from Partick Underground, train and bus stations. There are plenty of supermarkets, cafés and other amenities nearby, as well as easy access to local parks. Although the flat is very close to Dumbarton Road and everything the West End has to offer, the flat itself is exceptionally quiet and peaceful.
A little about me:
I’m a non-smoking, non-drinking 49-year-old male from Glasgow. I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist, although my background is also in the arts. I’m left-wing, open-minded and inclusive, and it’s important to me that home feels welcoming and respectful of people from all backgrounds. I lead a fairly quiet life, meditate regularly and generally keep to a normal routine.
I’m laid-back with a friendly disposition and enjoy catching up and hanging out from time to time — having dinner, watching a film or playing a game — but, like most people, I also appreciate having time and space to myself.
I’m looking for someone friendly and considerate who keeps to a reasonably regular routine and is looking for a quiet, restful home. Someone who values a peaceful home while also being happy to chat and socialise at times would be a good fit. The room wouldn’t be suitable for someone who works exclusively from home.
The room is for one person only, so unfortunately it isn’t suitable for couples. A working professional would be ideal, although a mature postgraduate or PhD student may also be considered provided they can meet the referencing requirements.
Bills:
Council tax and water charges currently work out at approximately £224.58 per month for the property when averaged over 12 months, so the normal 50/50 contribution is approximately £112.29 per month each.
Wi-Fi is £40 per month (£20 each).
Electricity is the only other household utility bill and is approximately £130 per month in summer (£65 each), rising to around £200 per month in winter (£100 each).
A mature postgraduate or PhD student may also be considered. Although full-time students are normally exempt from council tax, I would ask a student flatmate to make an agreed contribution towards the household council tax costs. As having one eligible student living with one non-student would result in a 25% council tax discount, their contribution would reflect the reduced household bill.
For referencing, you’ll need to be able to provide three months of UK bank statements, payslips where relevant, photo ID, and either a previous landlord’s reference or a professional character reference.
