Description
Converted Victorian Post Office: Huge Master Bedroom 6.1m x 5.4m x very high (4m) gabled ceiling (with clawfoot bath in bedroom + ensuite shower/loo adjoining) — a unique house near the bottom of Highgate Hill — 1min from Archway zone 2.
Available from 1st March 2020 -- viewing now.
Suitable for a woman, a man or a couple (don’t care WHAT persuasion you are, so long as we get on!!)
Spacious "loft-style" living in a beautifully converted, central-heated former VIctorian Sorting Office.
Previously a kind of warehouse, this fully insulated property now has double-glazed skylights, very high ceilings & masses of natural light.
Very quiet & plenty of space for a desk in each room, as well as being able to work in the 3 other "living zones".
Brilliant transport links:
🚇ZONE 2**: quiet culdesac less than 90 seconds from Archway** tube (northern line)
+ masses of bus routes: 134, C11, W5, N20, 4, 17, 41, 43, 134, 143, 210, 263, 271, 390 (many of which run 24/7)
🚉 3 minutes from Upper Holloway overground
🚕 3 reliable minicab offices nearby
🚲 Secure bike storage (bike rack just inside front door)
🅿 🚘 Residents Parking available (ca.£200 per year)
💻 Internet wifi/ethernet: very fast 113mBS fibre broadband & TV (with Virgin) included in bills.
Masses of space, light & height in this very large house (approx 2500sq ft / 219sq mètres) and — with 3 "living zones" — it never feels crowded here.
Sharing with:
— 🎶 me, Jonny, a professional musician in my 40s (jazz & classical double bass, away on tour from time to time)
— 🏴 and with my other tenant, Dan, who works co-ordinating national debt advice for the Money Advisory Service
We keep ourselves to ourselves quite a bit of the time due to work, in our respective rooms, but also enjoy cooking together/hanging out (he took me & 2 friends to a fab Burns Night Ceilidh recently).
⛺️ 🥃 🚴
I live in one of the 2 ground-floor bedrooms (the Garden Bedroom). I practise Tai Qi & freediving and I love food (+cooking), cycling, hiking & malt whisky...also: live music, cinema, theatre, dance, wild camping - life is too short!
🏊 🏊
Dan lives in the other ground floor room (your room is upstairs, with a large double-insulated skylight)...so far I have totally failed to tempt Dan into Hampstead Ponds (where I swim year-round with EGLST - the East German Ladies Swimming Team...don't ask: google it!) ...even though it is still a refreshing 6ºC...
🏊 🏊
We often keep ourselves to ourselves - working in our separate rooms - but (when our contrasting schedules permit) share food/drink & try to have friends & family around for dinner, including other professional musicians (who can occasionally be persuaded to play a bit.)
🎥
We also have a projector & excellent hi-fi for occasional big screen films (well...biggish: 3m x 2m!)
🐈
I have a very friendly chilled-out cat...well-trained never to go into the bedrooms. And there are no soft furnishings here, which means the place is easy to keep very clean...especially with a robot hoover AND a weekly cleaner who has OCD.
🛀 🚿 🚽 🛏
The Master Bedroom is upstairs: Huge at 6.1m x 5.4m with very high (4m) gabled ceiling, home-working possible: antique writing desk & chair, lots of natural light (windows + skylight with 100% blackout blind); 18th Century French Armoir; stunning Victorian-style claw-foot slipper-bath (i. e.🛁the bath is actually IN the bedroom itself...with ensuite shower & toilet next door); Kingsize bed & vintage bedside tables; skylight & window (with blackout blind/curtains); 3 x built-in double wardrobes; double radiator, heated towel-rail & basin.
☀️
Upstairs: roof terrace suntrap; spacious kitchen; adjacent large dining area (seating 8-12 people); sitting-room area with large leather chairs & sofa (& TV hidden away in cabinet).
🎹
Downstairs there's a huge (9m x 6m) additional living space with 3 leather sofas (plus a grand piano & my double bass) and small courtyard garden with 3 apple trees ...ripe & ready right now (remember to grab one when looking around)
🍎 🌳
Also: dishwasher, washing machine, good drying facilities (including hanging rack in Master Bedroom), iron+ironing board, basement storage.
🍂🍂🍂
Beautiful Waterlow Park (& the famous Highgate Cemetery) is 5 minutes walk away - and it just takes 5 mins to Hampstead Heath & Gospel Oak Lido by bus or bike.
🎭
Camden Town is about 10 mins by bike; cycling into central London takes 20-30 minutes (e. g. Covent Garden, Borough Market, Southbank Centre) ...which is about the same as by tube. [We are at the FOOT of Highgate Hill, which makes the ride home easy!]
