Description
The room:
Cozy room in a 3-bed house in Balham, 2 minutes walk from the station (Northern line and Southern rail access). The room comes with a small double bed, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. There isn't space for a desk, but there are other areas in the house where you'd be able to WFH.
The house:
The house is a homely, good-sized terraced house with a garden and plenty of shared spaces. We have a large living room, a dining room with a separate kitchen and a good sized garden. There is one full bathroom and a separate toilet. The location could not be any better - we are on a quiet road but with plenty of shops, restaurants, gyms and pubs just a few minutes walk away. Tooting Common, Wandsworth Common and Clapham Common are all 10-20 minutes walk away.
Household:
Ilaria: 30, Italian (but has lived in London for 7 years), working in FinTech. Mostly working from home with the occasional office days (~1/week).
Becca: 28, British, Renewable Energy Engineer, mostly working in the office, with one or two WFH days a week.
We get on really well and have been living in this house for 3 years. We do some house activities together - like watching TV, crafting, going to the pub, throwing the occasional party and dinner, but we have our own lives and give each other plenty of space. Ilaria loves to cook, so a big plus is if you like to eat and can help us with the endless sourdough supplies.
We are looking for someone of a similar age (25-35), ideally working from the office at least a few days a week to avoid making the house too crowded. We are looking for someone friendly and relaxed, but also tidy, clean and respectful of common spaces - the house is very homely but a bit old, and we try our best to put effort into keeping it in good shape (funky carpets included :)). We have a cleaner coming once every two weeks to help, and we expect collaborations for the rest of the time. We have a really good relationship with our landlord, and he is happy to help with any issues.
Availability:
The room is available from the end of October (~26 October), for 6 months only. There might be the possibility of extending the contract, but our landlord will only be able to confirm that next year.
Rent and Bills:
The room is very affordable at £620 per month, and bills come to about £80-£150 per person per month, depending on the season and council tax period. Bills include a fortnightly cleaner. The deposit is one month's rent.
