Description
We have a double bedroom available in our 4-bedroom 2-bathroom terraced house in Brixton, as one of our current housemates is going back to university.
The room will be available from 28th February, in the past our landlord has been relatively flexible with move in dates.
The house is approximately a 7-minute walk to Brixton tube station (Victoria Line) and high street and 15-minute walk to Stockwell station (Northern and Victoria Line). There are numerous shops (Sainsbury's/Boots/M&S/Tesco/Lidl etc) on or near the high street. We are also within a 5-minute walk of Pop Brixton and various other pubs/bars.
The room available is a double bedroom on the first floor of the house which comes with a wardrobe and has lots of natural light. You can configure the room so there is space for a desk. The house is fully furnished with a TV in the living room, BBQ in the garden for the summer and a small garden shed. The house is equipped with a washer under the stairs along with kitchen appliances (microwave, induction hob stove top, fridge and freezer).
Bills consist of electricity, gas, internet/TV, council tax, water, and a cleaner who comes every fortnight for 2 hours to clean the common areas and bathrooms (we are each responsible for cleaning our own rooms). Bills amount to roughly £115 a month each (sometimes more in the winter due to increased heating costs). We split all bills evenly to avoid any issues. We all generally buy our own food, but for common things like milk/loo and kitchen roll, we add it to the bill-splitting app.
The landlords are a family that also lives in Brixton. We have forged a strong relationship with them, and they are very easy to contact and responsive if we need anything in the house fixed or encounter any problems.
The rooms on the top floor belong to Lauren (aged 28) and Phoebe (28), and the other first-floor room belongs to Sara (30). We are professionals working in alcohol marketing, mental health research and education. We are pretty social and generally live separate lives, but we do enjoy getting together for a pub night or a night in on the sofa!
We are looking for a new housemate to join us in renewing our tenancy. We enjoy having a clean and tidy home and are respectful of each other's space/things. We hope to find someone who shares these values but also is sociable! Please feel free to send us a message if you have any additional questions! :)
