Description
A cosy and large single room available. It is just below ground level but gets lots of light through large windows. It is basically furnished with a single bed (with a trundle bed for guests) and a large wardrobe. It is available for short stay less than 2 months but in that case it is 1100/month. No dogs - cats possible if you want to pay for a cat-flap installation.
The maisonette has a lovely south facing sitting room leading onto a terrace and a lovely garden where I keep my cycle - the garden has a door leading to the street. The kitchen is also very comfy with a dining table, a sofa and lots of light with windows on two sides. There are two toilets - one downstairs with a bath and another one upstairs with a shower.
The house is 5 mins walk from Clapham Junction station but on a quiet street and very close to all the local shops and lots of amenities. Wandsworth common, Clapham Common, the river Thames and Battersea Park are all pretty close (under 20 mins walk away).
The landlord is a very fair, easy going and straight forward kind man. It is his home and full of his beautiful pot plants, lovely furniture and pictures on the walls - I find it cosy rather than cluttered. The house was newly refurbished a couple of years ago so I have had no problems with the flat but he is quick to get stuff fixed. He mostly lives in the countryside but comes to London and stays a few nights every month in the 3rd room but most of the time it is just myself living in the house.
About me - I'm 46 years old and work mostly as a gigging musician (jazz and folk music - clarinet, piano, tuba, guitar and sax) and illustrator. I am studying wood carving full time so I am at school 9-5 Monday to Friday. Weekends and holidays I may be around more but I also love to get away and travel. I like to practice music some mornings or evenings but the house is very well sound-insulated and I play no earlier than 7.30am or later than 11pm and earlier or later I will play the quieter instruments (piano/guitar/clarinet). I am pretty busy with gigs and school but in my spare time I love being active (running, dancing, hiking, sports, cooking and much more) seeing my family and friends.
Ideally I love communal living. I like to share food and company and having friends over to hang and eat. I am also used to accepting all sorts of people as long as they are respectful and generally positive. What matters more to me than youth or age or gregarious or quiet, is people's attitude, gentleness and willingness to do fun things and work out differences in a friendly sympathetic way. I appreciate straight forward gentle communication.
Vegans and vegetarians only. I like to keep the house tidy but I don't consider myself manic about it: I do the washing up straight after eating, I avoid leaving my personal things in the communal spaces and I enjoy the feeling of seeing a messy room tidied.
I speak several languages to different degrees and have lived 20 years out of UK - 7 of those out of Europe. I see different cultures as more of a pleasure to discover than a annoying challenge. I'm heterosexual but many of my smartest and most interesting friends are LGTBQ+ so if you identify that way you will be as welcome as anyone else.
I look forward to hearing from you. I'm very busy these next two weeks but i will do my best to reply as soon as I can - within 4 days of the message for sure.
