Description
Hello!
We are searching for a fourth flatmate for our Clerkenwell Maisonette! We are a trio of full-time creatives working in design and photography. We've all become good friends and turned our previously soulless (if characterful!) flat into a warm and vibrant home.
Clerkenwell is a leafy, fun & peaceful area of historic central London. Those words usually aren't found together in central London, and that's in part because Clerkenwell is a bit of a well-kept secret of Zone 1. Charles Dickens set his 1843 novel 'A Christmas Carol' here, William Shakespeare mentioned our hallowed streets in his 1599 play 'Henry IV', and rumour has it Stalin originally met Lenin for the first time at our local pub on Clerkenwell Green.
We are lucky to live in an area replete with amazing history. But today, in 2025 no less, our local area boasts friendly and delicious cafes, a couple of pubs (closing at a very respectful hour), some of the city's highest rated restaurants (Bib Gourmand & otherwise), and a beautiful hidden garden that is 600 years old. We treat that as our own private garden, really, and sit in it often with a coffee from Compton.
Our flat is about a six-minute walk to the glorious Exmouth Market, a 12-minute walk to the banal 'City of London', a 15-minute walk to the staggering St. Paul's cathedral, and within a 20-minute walk of Holborn, Angel, and Shoreditch. Soho is 25-minutes. Quite doable.
We have been a home of good friends for years now and are looking for the right person to be a part of our community.
We enjoy our individual work and outings as much as we do having a chilled evening at home together watching a film / gaming or going for coffees together. We love cooking, art, cinema, bouldering, making things, reading, and enjoying our little piece of London.
The massive room is on the second floor of the same historic maisonette just mentioned. The massive window is EAST-facing, so for you architecture buffs you'll know it gets the perfect light at the right times of day. It comes with a King-sized bed, table, chair, medium-sized wardrobe and two dressers.
Our home has a large living room, dining space and kitchen. The shared bathroom is split between three people (two of whom are our new flatmates).
Most unusually the home is on a pedestrian passage so cars can rarely be heard. It is super quiet, surprisingly. This makes for a really peaceful setting in the heart of so much central activity. We are a 10-second walk to a wonderful Belgian Beer Cafe, a 30-second walk to a cocktail lounge, a 2-minute walk to a normal sized Waitrose and Tesco, and a 2-minute walk to our local garden (mentioned above).
We're a seven-minute walk to Farringdon Tube and Train station, with Elizabeth Line, Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan Lines, and Thameslink, should you ever need public transport. And it’s a 30-second walk to the 243, 55, 29 & 38 buses which take you most of the places your heart could desire.
The rooms have hardwood floors so extremely easy to clean.
We love to keep the flat tidy and clean plus are respectful of noise as we all have different schedules. We all pitch in so that the place is a home and not just a crashing pad.
We do not smoke, we're quiet and considerate. We don’t have crazy parties but enjoy hosting each other’s friends now and then. if you have a bicycle it must be locked outside as we do not have cycle storage.
In addition to rent, council tax is £60/person/month and utilities average about £50/person/month (electricity/water/internet, fortnightly cleaning of common areas). It’s likely council tax and energy bills will rise so please expect this.
We love our home and living together and if it looks like a good fit please do get in contact.
We are hoping to view asap so please reach out with some information on yourself :).
