Homeshare Opportunity:
We are delighted to offer this fabulous new Homeshare opportunity to live comfortably and affordably in West London, close to shops, cafes and transport links, in return for providing around 10 hours a week of practical support around the home and companionship, and an overnight reassuring presence to an older lady.
What the Opportunity Involves:
In return for the low-cost accommodation (£240 per month), we are looking to match our older homeowner with a bright and friendly female sharer (30+) who is happy to provide some daily companionship and practical support, and a reassuring presence at night. No personal care is required or permitted.
Our homeowner is in her mid-80’s, an intelligent, interesting, independent and sociable lady. She is partially sighted in one eye and slightly hard of hearing, however she enjoys company and good conversation and family and friends pop round often to visit her, or she goes out with them for occasional meals. She taught English and social sciences for many years until she retired and has many cultural interests. She takes Italian speaking classes and goes to church when she can.
Our homeowner is used to sharing her home as she has had mature students staying with her over the years and recently a very positive experience with a Homesharer prior to her moving to a different part of London for her new job as a sociologist (they keep in touch and remain very fond of each other).
This opportunity would suit a kind, tidy and considerate female, who is either working on a hybrid basis or studying for a masters or PhD. Someone who is responsible and reliable, warm and open-minded, who is interested in history, culture and current events, and would enjoy sharing some time and interesting conversation with the homeowner. Our homeowner does enjoy her own company and space mostly but would enjoy some daily catching up and chat, and to share a meal maybe once or twice a week.
Practical support will include helping with any IT or technology issues, assisting with occasional phone calls, online or local food shopping, some household chores such as putting the bins out, emptying the dishwasher or getting things from the high shelves and a bit of help in the small garden, but mostly this is about providing a reassuring presence at night. If the sharer is able to accompany the homeowner on occasional outings, that would be welcomed.
Our homeowner has an elderly cat so the Sharer must be happy to live with a cat. Unfortunately, other cats are not welcome.
We are looking to match this Homeshare opportunity soon. If it is of interest, please message us, telling us about yourself, your work/study situation, and interests, and particularly why you consider that you would be well suited to this opportunity.
Thank you
** Cost: £240 per month**
This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. There is also a contribution of £60 per month towards energy bills and council tax.
