Description
Hello!
Our current flatmate is moving closer to work as she starts a new job, so we're looking for someone to take her room in our three-bed flat in Hackney Wick, available from 30 November.
THE FLAT
We're in a relatively new and secure building right next to the Olympic Park, about five minutes from Hackney Wick station.
The flat has a large open-plan kitchen and living room, which is where we tend to spend most of our time. The kitchen is well equipped, with a good amount of room for multiple people to cook at once, and we've got a big dining table where we eat, hang out and occasionally work from home together. There's also a balcony with a table and chairs, a utility room, and plenty of storage.
Your room is furnished with a double bed, bedside tables, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. There's also enough room for a small desk if you work from home. You'll be sharing a bathroom with Manasi.
The building has lifts, secure bike storage and a shared courtyard, and the flat is step-free.
THE AREA
We're right by the canals and the Olympic Park, with Victoria Park about ten minutes away. There are plenty of good places nearby, including Grow for drinks and live music, Colour Factory for a night out, and Hearth for coffee and pastries. Other special mentions: Hackney Bridge, V&A Storehouse, V&A East Museum, West Ham Stadium, Westfield Shopping Mall.
Hackney Wick Overground is a five-minute walk, Stratford Underground and Stratford International train stations are about 15 minutes away, and there are good bus and cycle connections to the rest of East London less than 5 min away.
US
Joel (26, he/him) is a software engineer from Bristol. Big into music, whether that's going to gigs or club nights. Also loves cinema, exhibitions and reading (would also love to get a flat book club going at some point), and is a regular at Oasis and London Fields Lido, with the occasional trip to Hampstead ponds for a dip with friends.
Usually out and about seeing friends, trying new places to eat or going for drinks. Loves cooking for people and has a tendency to get a bit carried away with what he brings to potlucks. He would especially love to live with someone who's interested in cooking veggie food together, although you don't need to be vegetarian yourself. His girlfriend lives in Copenhagen, so they regularly travel back and forth to see each other.
Manasi (26, she/her) is an economist working in digital transformation in the civil service. She is Indian but grew up in various countries around the world, and has now lived in London for under eight years. She's really into bachata and other Latin dancing, loves reggaeton (particularly Bad Bunny), and is also a regular at the gym and F45.
She's also a keen traveller who loves visiting new countries and trying new foods. Her boyfriend Hari is lovely and usually stays over 1-2 nights a week.
THE HOUSEHOLD
We’ve lived together for almost two years and have become good friends. We spend a lot of time together, whether that's watching films, going to pub quizzes, heading out with mutual friends or having long and often quite random conversations in the kitchen. We like to hang out in the shared living space even while WFH or doing our own thing. We do also have our own friends and things going on, and respect each other's downtime and privacy.
YOU
We're looking for someone who's sociable, easy to get along with and wants to be part of the household rather than just rent a room. We'd love to find someone who's up for cooking together, watching a film, heading to the pub or introducing us to their friends, while obviously having their own life too. Also being LGBTQ+ friendly, inclusive, and respectful of other cultures is a must.
We enjoy having friends round for dinner or drinks, and it would be nice to have someone who enjoys and would like to get involved with that kind of thing. At the same time it’s also important to us to strike a balance, and to be considerate of each-other, especially on a school night!
It’s really important to us to keep the shared spaces clean, tidy and organised for each-other. We have a weekly cleaning, bathroom, and bins rota that we all work together as a flat to stick to and take seriously. We’re keen to live with someone who respects and looks after the house just as much as we do.
THE DETAILS
Rent: £990 pcm (subject to confirmation of the annual increase)
Bills: approximately £150 per person, including council tax (band E), electricity, heating, hot water and Wi-Fi
Deposit: five weeks' rent
Available from 30 November on a rolling contract
Viewings: 5–25 October, in the evenings or at weekends
If you think we'd get along, send us a message telling us a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a flatshare!
