Description
Peaceful room in a quiet house, on a quiet, tree-lined street.
Female-preferred. LGBTQ+ -friendly. No couples.
Available from late August, depending on tenant needs I can be flexible.
I have lived in many places in London and this is my favourite; I’m sad to give it up! I am moving due to a job.
The house is a Victorian terraced house – high ceilings, large windows, good sound insulation, and fairly pleasant in hot weather. The room is on the ground floor, at the back of the house. The window faces the south-east and comes with thick curtains.
There is plenty of storage space – a built-in floor-to-ceiling wardrobe in the bedroom, shared cupboards throughout the house and built-in shelves in the living room. The room also comes with a large chest of drawers and there is plenty of space under the bed.
The room has a lovely outlook onto the garden. We are growing tomatoes, strawberries, herbs and flowers. There is a bike rack for four bikes.
Large kitchen with washing machine and tumble dryer. Plenty of cupboard space.
You will share a large bathroom with one person (Kat).
You will have three housemates: Kat, Chloe and Dan. They work full-time in digital marketing and accounting, mostly from home (in their rooms). They are tidy and considerate. Everyone gets along but mostly keeps to themselves.
The house is located ten minutes from Elephant and Castle by bus (Bakerloo line, Northern line via Bank and Thameslink to the City and Kings Cross), less than ten minutes to Burgess Park on foot and 15 mins to Bermondsey on foot. It takes less than five minutes to walk to a Lidl and less than ten minutes to walk to a Tesco. Walworth Road is a ten-to-fifteen-minute walk away via the East Street market, where fruit and veg are very cheap.
The house has been managed by the same estate since its construction in the 1870s. The landlords are professional and responsive.
Rent is £787.50 and bills are £102.25. The deposit is £525. We are on an annual lease which renews in March.
I’ll be happy to sublet it to someone for a couple of months (so I give my notice in the lease) or do a change of name in the contract if you’re looking for a long-term place.
Let me know if you would like me to send you videos of the room and house.
