Description

We’re looking for 3 extra people to live with us in our intentional community in Golders Green.

We are not just looking for someone to share rent with. Our home is a community where we are part of each other’s lives. We support each other to achieve and to regulate. We plan cosy gatherings together. We share stories over big plates of pasta at the end of our work days.

What we are
👩‍👩‍👧‍👦 An intentional community of 4 people. Hannah and Toby are moving to Devon in mid December and Bethany’s moving to Calais, with her room available from November 5th. That will leave just me, Martin, from mid December.
📍In Golders Green - right next to the Heath Extension,
2 minutes walk from the view above 🌳
☯️ A community and physical space that fosters the values of spaciousness, commitment to connection, and community leadership.

You might be a good fit if
You resonate with the vision and values below
- You are vegan/vegetarian (or are happy for the shared food in the house to be)
- You can afford ~ £550, £660 or £700 / month depending on room + bills + shared food costs
- You are able to move in by the end of the year.

What our values mean in practice

Spaciousness
We have a space where we can relax, regulate and feel safe. We have systems in place to make life at home easy and avoid unnecessary conflict.

- Our house is right next to Hampstead Heath, perfect to walks, and tree appreciation.
- We pay for a weekly cleaner for shared areas
- We buy most of our food collectively (shared vegan (ideally)/ vegetarian dinners!)
- We agree and iterate on shared systems for maintaining the space (e. g. where we put things, how we manage shopping, cooking and cleaning etc.)

Commitment to connection

We are part of each other's lives. We are here to see, support and encourage one another. We intend to express our needs and boundaries and make space for sharing how we are really feeling.

- Having a commitment to at least one shared meal and group check-ins each week (currently Thursdays) to talk about what is happening for us.
Practicing communication skills such as NVC
- Being intentional about new people moving into the house (ensuring they fit with the existing vibe/values)
Intending/hoping to be here for the long term. We are looking for people who have no plans to move on any time soon
- Seeing “living in a community” as a practice we are all trying to improve at
- Occasional house outings

Community leadership

We are part of a complex and diverse network of friends, communities, and scenes. We are connected and contributing to those individually and collectively. We host gatherings, and our previously separate friends are now close friends with each other!

We host regularly (we recently ran a series of Friday Night Dinners for a small, rotating set of friends)

We want to encourage other group houses to move nearby (as part of the Mosaic project)

The house
The place is a total steal…

Heathcroft is a gorgeous, listed estate (some history here) right next to the heath, with private gardens that can be lazed on in summer and a porter that takes the trash out 3 times a week from the door (old school service!).

Here is the estate agent waffle:

“A charming, bright 4 bedroom third floor apartment set within this fabulous Grade II listed building, set back from Hampstead Way in a tranquil, picturesque setting. Located directly across the road from the Heath Extension, within a 10 minute walk of the shopping & transport facilities of Golders Green, as well as Golders Hill Park, whilst Hampstead is just a 10 minute cycle.

Features include a spacious reception room with original parquet floor and bay windows overlooking the fabulous communal green (see picture). Gorgeous landscaped communal gardens with seating, an on-site estate manager.”

If you want to express interest in living here, would you be able to answer these questions.

What do you resonate most with from the vision? And why are you applying in general?
What would make living here particularly joyful for you? e. g. what kind of culture do you want, what share norms, rituals or values?
When would you be able to move in? Be as rough or precise as you can be
If you have a partner, approximately how many, if any at all, would you estimate your partner would come round and/or stay the night every month?
Anything else we should know? About you, a date you need to move by or about this application.
