Description
We’re looking for a person to sublet a room in our LGBTQ+ Hackney flat for 8 months from July until March 2025.
It’s a third floor, ex local authority maisonette in Hackney Central (there is no lift). You will have the largest bedroom on the south facing side of the flat.
The bedroom comes with the bed frame, mattress and wardrobe.
The flat has a huge living room with a balcony, a separate kitchen with oven, washing machine, separate bathroom with bathtub/shower and toilet. It’s not modern but it’s cosy and homely!
LOCATION
About as convenient as you can get - we’re 7 mins from Hackney Central station, 2 minutes from a Tesco superstore and lots of shops and bars. Broadway market is a 10 minute walk away!
ABOUT US
I’m Bel (they/she), 31 working in local government comms. I’ve lived in the flat for over 10 years now which I know is basically unheard of! I’m also doing a creative writing masters and enjoy going to the gym, houseplants and eating pastries.
Sam (she/her) is 29 and working at an animal rights charity. She’s a big fan of writing, cycling, vegan delicacies and her big orange cat (see below)
Zack, Sam’s giant orange tabby cat and the friendliest little guy you will ever meet (he will sit on you, so liking cats is an absolute must).
We’re both great friends and we’d love to have someone who wants to hang out for the last few months that we are here (although we have a lot of our own time as well).
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone calm, easygoing and considerate who is cool with a subletting situation until March of next year.
We’d love you to put your own spin on the place and to feel comfortable here.
You’ll also be okay with feeding a cat very occasionally and obviously with us both being queer!
We both work from home most of the week but we’re also fine with you working from home if needed (I have my desk in the living room but there would be plenty of space in your room to work).
We have a cleaning rota (and sometimes do big cleans together) so you’ll be happy to get involved with that too.
IMPORTANT BITS TO KNOW
Our flat is managed by an estate agent who are responsive about maintenance. I also have a good relationship with the landlady who is planning to sell the flat next year (hence why we’re moving, so there won’t be potential to extend).
Rent and bills for the room is £730 a month, rent won’t increase whilst you’re here (although can’t guarantee about bills). There is no deposit.
As we have Zack and he has FIV we think unfortunately we’re not going to be able to take another pet.
The room is available from July 2024 until late March 2025.
