Description
Hello future flatmate!
About the flat:
The bedroom is really bright with lots of natural light, spacious and furnished with a double bed, wardrobe, bedside table, bookshelf, chest of drawers, and there is plenty of space for some of your own furniture too, e. g. desk, couch. (It's the larger of the two rooms on the floor plans.)
The flat has a good-sized, comfortable living room, and kitchen with adjoining balcony. The kitchen has a washing machine, microwave, fridge, chest freezer, dining table, oven and hob. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, a separate toilet and bathroom (with bath and electric shower). The flat is triple glazed with lots of natural light, and is always very warm and cozy.
The overall vibe is homely, comfortable, relaxed and eclectic so would suit someone looking for that feel rather than seeking sleek and modern.
The property is a two bedroom, split-level, ex-local authority flat on the third and fourth floors of the building (which has 6 floors in total, not a high-rise tower block). There are communal stairs and a lift, and secure entry systems to the building and to the corridor where the flat is one of six. Communal areas are cleaned frequently by the council. The flats in the building are approx 50% privately owned, and there is still an interesting mix of authentic East End local characters as well as the newbies!
About the location:
Cannot be beaten if you want to take advantage of all that Hackney has to offer! It's a 3 minute walk from the Hackney Picturehouse, Empire, Town Hall, and there are great bus links, including night buses. It's a 5 minute walk to Hackney Central train station, a 7-10 minute walk to London Fields train station, and a 10 minute bus ride to Bethnal Green tube station. There are plenty of shops and cafes around, and a large Tesco 5 minutes away. The area has lots of green spaces, including London Fields, Hackney Marches, Victoria Park; and Broadway Market, Columbia Road Flower Market and Well Street Market all easy walking distance. For nightlife, Hoxton, Dalston, Shoreditch, Old Street, Brick Lane, Bethnal Green, Camden and Angel are all nearby, and Hackney itself has lots to offer. Hackney is in Zone 2 for London transport.
About me:
I'm a friendly, easy-going, young-at-heart Glaswegian girl based in London since 2009. I'm an animal behaviour and welfare scientist working in the NGO sector (mainly WFH at the moment so my preference is for a flatmate who doesn't WFH full-time so I don't disturb you when I'm taking meetings etc.). I'm also on the TEDxLondon team so am often scoping out new ideas, inspiring people and cool events! I tend to be busy during the week and like to explore London and enjoy the nightlife at weekends (I don't bring the party back though). I love animals (and don't eat them), travelling (more than 90 countries and counting...), and cocktails. I also have far too many pairs of shoes...
As I travel a lot, you would have the flat to yourself for periods of time, so I'm looking for someone who is comfortable with that and able to 'hold the fort' independently when I'm out of town.
I'm open to short-term flatmates or Mon-Fri lets (rent adjusted accordingly) and can be flexible with dates. I'd like to find someone easy-going, friendly and responsible – life in London is hectic enough without having stressors at home, I’m sure you’ll agree. I've become great friends with my previous flatmates who've LOVED living here (and would be happy to have a chat with you too if helpful to get another perspective).
LGBTQ-friendly, any gender and nationality welcome, but must be a non-smoker please.
Happy to arrange a call and virtual tour of the flat initially.
