Hi, I'm Sam and I'm a Pilates teacher in Hackney, and my partner Ady is a Handyman.
We bought our home in Hackney 13 years ago but now spend our time between Hackney and Margate. I use the third smaller bedroom (not in the photos) in the house on Monday and Tuesdays usually, but may be around other days too. When I'm teaching, I'm in and out of the house a lot. Sometimes I'll pop home for some down-time or food in between my morning and evening sessions. Ady is based in Margate, but sometimes works in London as we both enjoy spending time in the city. We're both sporty (run, cycle, climb, swim etc.) and enjoy gigs and eating out. Ady is a real extrovert and full of life, I'm quite a lot calmer/quieter and am happy to stay in with a glass of wine and a book! We do plan on being in London a bit more going forward, but will ultimately be still splitting our time between London and Margate.
We are looking for some easy going lodgers to share the house with us, taking the two larger bedrooms on the top floor as shown in the photos. The White room has a superking bed, is the larger of the two, has white laminate floor and very large built in wardrobes. The Blue Room is a little smaller, with a king size bed, but also has lots of storage space.
The house is decorated to a high standard and we want everyone to be able to enjoy living here. With that in mind, we'll arrange for a weekly clean of communal areas, but its essential that everyone is clean and tidy and helps to keep the house looking nice for everyone, e. g. washing up dishes, loading/unloading the dishwasher.
Occasional overnight guests are absolutely fine too - we have an additional sofa bed in the lounge that you are welcome to use considerately - we may well use that ourselves on occasion if we stay over with friends. We definitely don't want lodgers moving their partners in permanently with them though - this will be inconvenient for everyone, i. e. having to share the kitchen and bathroom with more people, not to mention the extra cost of energy related to this.
There is a garage with an electric door built into the house, which you are welcome to use for bicycle storage.
We welcome people with cats - there is a flap installed already and the house is fairly open plan with bi-fold doors in the kitchen we like to have wide open in summer, so they need to be outdoor cats!
The monthly rental cost is as follows:
White Room - LET
Blue Room - £1250
Bills are extra - we can share more details of these if you think you might be interested. Council tax is band D. This is based on a single person renting each room. As Ady and I are both a bit older, we're ideally seeking considerate working professionals in their 30's+ who are equally keen to avoid a house share that feels like a student house!
