Description
My current flatmate is moving in with her boyfriend so I'm looking for a new flatmate to come join me in a spacious flat in Hornsey - ten minutes walk from Turnpike Lane Station (Picadilly Line) and five minutes from Hornsey Station (National Rail).
Room is available from 15 November with no restrictions in terms of duration of let so long as we talk about it. Students only so we can continue not paying council tax. Open to couples.
About the flat:
The flat is a spacious basement flat with south-facing bedrooms - meaning that there is still a lot of light despite the subterranean placement of the flat. It comes with an open plan fully fitted kitchen and open plan lounge/living room, as well as a large shared bathroom. All shared living areas come furnished but there is still an option for you to add your own touch if you fancy.
The flat itself is non-smoking but there is a shared courtyard with the rest of the building that has a smoking area. It is possible to park/store a bike outside, and car parking is available for a small extra fee by consultation with the landlord (I cannot say how much as I don't have a car).
About your room:
The room comes with a double bed, built-in shelving, and two large wardrobes. It has floor-to-ceiling windows providing loads of light but with blinds for privacy. The desk and chair are my flatmate's and won't be staying in the room.
About the area:
The flat is located right off Hornsey High St with less than a five minute walk to a Sainsbury's Super Store, Argos, and loads of restaurants and international supermarkets. Within ten-twenty minutes' walk you'll be able to access the centre of Wood Green, Crouch End, or Muswell Hill, giving you plenty of options for shopping, going out, and exploring the local area.
Several local parks are sprinkled across the area, with twenty minutes' by foot to get to Alexandra Palace and twenty minutes with bus to get to Finsbury Park.
Who you'll be living with and what I'm looking for
I'm a full-time, second-year PhD student in archaeology at UCL. I'm from Denmark but studied for my master's in London in 2023 and lived in Ireland and Kenya before returning to London for my PhD last October.
In my off-time I write, play music, go out, and enjoy exploring everything London has to offer. Between that and my work/research, I am fairly busy, but I'm usually down for a dinner together, glass of wine, trip to the pub, or film or game night in the flat. So expect someone who's fairly sociable and I would hope for something similar from you.
This will be your home so obviously you're welcome to have guests and visitors and date and have a life and whatnot. I do too. So long as you're open to being able to talk about how to keep it respectful it's all good.
Due to council tax, I'm looking strictly for other students. Whether you're an undergrad, graduate, or postgraduate student or which university/school you study at doesn't really matter to me. I'm open to couples and the room is suitable for that, although the rent will be adjusted slightly to reflect that there will be an extra person in the flat. I don't care what your sexual, political, religious, or gender orientation is, whether you have any dietary restrictions, or where you come from/grew up - so long as you're a decent person. I am fairly left-leaning and politically engaged, eat meat (but my previous flatmate was vegan and this was never an issue), and drink, so do keep that in mind if any of that is a deal-breaker for you.
Otherwise, get in touch with me and we can arrange a viewing of the flat and room and a chat to see if living together seems suitable!
