Double room available in friendly Mile End houseshare.
The house: a 4 bed property just two minutes from the lovely Roman Road in Mile End (near Mae & Harvey for Sunday brunches). In an attractive Victorian terrace, we have a shared living room, separate dining room with lots of room to host, separate kitchen, two toilets, one bathroom, and a spacious garden with seating and firepit where we like to host people in the summer. We also have a huge basement with extensive storage and an area in the garden where you can lock your bike. Lovely wooden floors throughout the downstairs giving a lovely homely feel.
The room: A double bedroom with lots of natural light overlooking the garden. The room comes with the large furnishings (bed, wardrobe, tbc chest of drawers) and under-bed storage.
The housemates: You will be living with three 31 year old boys who are friends and like to socialise. Our interests include eating out, cooking nice dinners, gym, sports (tag rugby and dodgeball currently!), hiking, travelling, going to gigs/festivals and socialising with friends. We're a friendly, laid-back, tidy group looking for someone who will feel at home in our house. We're all professionals who work Monday-Friday 9-5.30. We work hybridly, so are usually working from home a couple of days in the week. If you want to work from home then you would be able to use the dining room, which no-one else uses to work. We've had no issues with wifi and working from home.
We're looking for someone who's friendly and happy to sit with us in the living room while we watch Traitors, but is also happy to be out and about doing their own thing as we are often out seeing friends and doing activities. Someone respectful, chill, and up for the occasional shared dinner or pub trip. We'd like someone who pulls their weight in keeping the house tidy, but we do pay for a cleaner to keep it looking nice!
The area: We love our area, just ten minutes walk to Mile End station (central, district and hammersmith line) and just one stop from Stratford and Whitechapel which have a lot of the other lines. We're a couple of minutes' walk from Roman Road with cafes and shops, and many old-style pubs in the area that we like to visit (our favourites are Morgan Arms and Lord Tredegar). Less than ten minutes walk to Victoria Park.
The contract: Our fourth housemate is leaving which means we are looking to fill her spot in an existing contract. This contract currently runs until September 2026 so we are looking for someone who will stay for a minimum of 9 months. We expect at that point that we will continue our contract in the house - probably on a rolling monthly basis given upcoming changes to rental law. You will need to pass a reference check by our estate agent, and your deposit will be held securely by them.
Move in date: 18th January 2026.
Rent: £1015
Deposit: 5 weeks rent
Additional charge: £100 one time payment to pay for the name change on the contract.
The bills: bills aren't included. We pay for the usual household bills, plus wifi, a cleaner, and we are council tax band E, all of which we log on Splitwise for ease. There is a cheap parking permit available for you to buy if you wish.
