Description
Double Bedroom to Rent in Charming Terraced Cottage – Mortlake (£1550 pcm)
A spacious double bedroom is available in a beautiful newly renovated terraced cottage, located on a quiet residential street in Mortlake. The area is safe, peaceful and benefits from street parking. It’s a calm, comfortable space with great outdoor access. I’m keen to find someone who would love to make the place feel more like a home - ideally someone who’s clean, friendly, enjoys having a glass of wine together, exploring the local area together but is also very independent too.
About the area:
Mortlake is a hidden gem of South West London - very close to the river and within walking distance of Richmond Park (via East Sheen Gate). There’s easy access to nearby areas such as Barnes, East Sheen, Kew, Richmond and Chiswick. Travel wise - the house is located near both Mortlake and Barnes Bridge station which has routes into Clapham Junction / Waterloo, as well as plenty of bus stops and cycle routes.
The House:
The property has recently been renovated, so everything feels fresh and modern. It is technically an unfurnished property, but since being here I have built Wardrobes, Kitchen Trolleys and so on. Some of the furniture will be removed when tenancy changes over (due to being property of the previous tenant). I’m planning to furnish the house (either before the new tenant moves in or together with the new tenant). There’s a great opportunity here to really shape the space and make it feel like a home.
Connected to the back of the property, there’s also a lovely patio garden. The patio itself catches the morning / mid-day sun and features beautiful brick walls with lots of plants, a shed for storage and space for a bike if you have one.
The rest of the property has a bright kitchen area featuring a washer dryer, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The living room has a relaxed modern atmosphere, with an area for a dining table and a Lounge area featuring a sofa / TV - these will be replaced with the tenancy changes over. There is one bathroom, located upstairs between the bedrooms which features skylight windows and a toilet, sink and a very nice bath / shower. There is also a fairly large loft which has lots of room for storing suitcases etc in.
The Room:
There are two bedrooms in the property:
- Small Room roughly 6m2 - currently used as an office, but will soon become my bedroom. This room has capacity for a small double bed.
- Large Bedroom 10.5m2 - this is the available room and features some lovely wardrobes and currently a super-king bed.
The available (larger) room includes a newly installed wardrobe with lights which will be staying and currently has a super-king bed. In my opinion, the bed currently dominates the space and can be kept if desired, but this could also be replaced with a double bed which I believe would create a much nicer space (and room for a desk).
About Me:
I’m a 29-year-old textile designer working in the interior industry. I’ve been living in London for 5 years and in this property for under a year.
I enjoy running, pottery, cooking and painting. I’m usually in the office during the week but sometimes work from home on Fridays. I’m sociable and enjoy spending time with friends and family, though I also value a calm and comfortable home environment. I often visit family in Dorset but would love to create a comfortable home where I enjoy being here too.
Looking For:
I’m looking for a female flatmate who is friendly, respectful, and interested in creating a homely space together. I would love someone who I can explore the local area with or catch up over a glass of wine on a Friday night. It would be great if the person is independent too who is more than happy to have their own space.
Details:
- Move-in date: Approx. July / August (can be flexible)
- Bills: £300 pcm (£150 each approx)
- Rent (large bedroom): £1,550 pcm
- Deposit: £3,173 total (£1,586.50 each)
Feel free to message me with any questions! ☺️
