**Room in Family Home (Nunhead / SE15) – In Exchange for ~15 Hours' Help per Week**
We're a small, friendly household in Nunhead — one working mum, a 5-year-old daughter and a dog — looking for someone lovely, organised and reliable to join our home in exchange for around 15 hours of help per week.
In return, you'd have a **furnished double room with all bills included**, worth around £1,200/month. The room is on the top floor of the house, so it feels quite private, and there is also a small study/office nook just outside it.
This isn't a traditional au pair role, and I'm not looking for a cleaner or full-time nanny. It's more of a mix between a **family assistant, light PA and extra pair of hands at home**.
The idea is to have someone who can help keep everyday life running smoothly and take some of the smaller things off my plate.
**What the help would look like**
There would be some regular responsibilities, alongside other things that vary depending on the week.
This might include:
* occasional school drop-offs or pick-ups
* babysitting, usually 1–2 evenings some weeks
* occasional extra childcare if I'm travelling or particularly busy
* dog walking
* keeping on top of washing, folding clothes and putting them away
* small errands, returns, collections or appointments
* helping keep certain areas of the house organised
* going through post and flagging anything that needs action
* booking appointments or helping with general life admin
* helping organise things like birthday parties, travel, bookings or other bits and pieces
There is **no cleaning involved**.
Around 5 hours a week may be more PA/life-admin focused, with the rest split between household help, childcare and whatever needs doing that week.
Some weeks may be a little under 15 hours and occasionally some may be slightly over, but the aim is for it to average around 15 hours overall. We would agree what is needed and there would be some structure — this isn't a situation where you'd be expected to be permanently available just because you live here.
**Who this would suit**
This could be a particularly nice setup for someone who wants to spend some time in London without committing to an expensive London rental — for example an exchange student, someone coming to London for a few months, someone wanting to improve their English, or someone simply looking for a good base while figuring out their next step.
It could also work really well if you're studying, working part-time, freelance, remote, or have a flexible schedule.
It is less likely to work alongside a very fixed full-time 9–5 job, as some of the help naturally falls during the day.
I'm looking for someone who is:
* organised and proactive
* reliable and sensible
* warm and comfortable around children
* happy around dogs
* confident with written English for the admin side
* the kind of person who enjoys getting things sorted without needing every little thing explained
You don't need formal childcare experience, but you do need to genuinely enjoy being around children and be someone I can trust.
Because we'd be sharing a home, the personality fit matters just as much as the practical side. The household is friendly, relaxed and busy, and I'd like this to feel like a genuinely nice arrangement for everyone — not like you're "at work" whenever you're at home.
I'm ideally looking for someone who would like to stay for at least a few months, and potentially much longer if it works well for everyone.

📩 If you're interested, please send a short introduction with a little about yourself, what you're currently doing in London, what your typical week looks like, and how long you're hoping to stay.
