Description
Hey, we’re looking for a new flatmate here in our house just off the back of Queens Road. We’re a sociable house that like food, film, music, sports and a little bit of everything.
The room is upstairs, at the back of the house, looking over the garden. Its a cosy space that catches a good amount of natural light in the day.
We have a great shared living room with record players, a TV including everything (Sky sports, cinema etc.) and its generally a good place to hang out together. We'll often have sports / films / TV on. We also have a slightly neglected garden (we'll blame it on the cold Winter) complete with a cold plunge - not currently standing but will bring it back in summer - if that's your thing. Green fingers are a HUGE plus.
We have a dining room, kitchen, bathroom with extra loo and shower on the ground floor. The house is on a quiet street just around the corner (2 minute walk) from Queens Road Peckham station with regular trains to central London. Supermarkets are close by and a Tesco Express is 2 minutes away.
We're looking for someone who’s into the same stuff and can bring a nice vibe with them, but who is also similar and can get involved with what we’re up to. We are looking for someone to be present, get involved, and contribute towards it being a nice home.
We are a mix of two housemates working in the office/from home (Oak, a civil servant & Will, a software developer) and one housemate, Sam, who works shifts at a cinema. House activities include football matches, the pub, restaurants, cinema trips (free tickets), hanging out in Peckham, shared meals, etc.
Our landlords are very reasonable and responsive, if we have issues we have a shared WhatsApp group chat and often get replies near immediately.
That being said, there is the occasional shared house cost (e. g. we have just replaced the hoover) and we have a white goods agreement, which means we have to deal with issues (and pay) for the oven, fridge and washing machine. We would need you to be happy to contribute to these - issues come up relatively infrequently. All other smaller jobs and issues (e. g. wear and tear) are paid for by our lovely landlords!
Rent is currently £616 a month and deposit is £687.
Bills are:
Council tax: £37.25
Sky TV and Broadband: £22.75
TV License: £8.50
Water: £14.40 per month
Energy: £20
Gas: £6.75
All in all, your total rent and bills with be approximately ~£730, which is a steal for the area, the house and the room! The landlords have also assured us that the rent will not increase until March 2026 at the earliest, when they revisit the terms of their mortgage.
We're expecting a high degree of interest in the room (we had over 100 messages the last time round) so if we don't reply, apologies, please don't take it personally.
To help with things, please do not apply if you:
- Haven't read the ad
- Are a student, or don't fit the profile described above
- Aren't looking to stay for a *minimum* of one year
- Aren't interested in socialising with housemates
- Are looking for a house but not a home
- Aren’t available to do a viewing in mid January (we won’t be doing virtual viewings / sending photos / giving someone the room without meeting them)
- Can’t provide references (ID, proof of address, last 3 payslips)
Otherwise, please get in touch! Please tell us a bit about yourself, your interests, what you do, and why you might be a good fit for the house. We’ll be in touch to arrange a viewing :) These will be from ~ mid Jan.
