Description
A huge double room became available in our house in Peckham just off Rye Lane. Rent £620 + bills (around £100, varies slightly depending on the season; this includes council tax as there is no exemption for it). Deposit is 5 weeks rent. The room is on the first floor at the front of the house. It comes unfurnished.
Move in date: 1st of December
About the house:
The house is situated a 10-minute walk from Peckham Rye station and there are various buses running 24/7. There are several bigger shops around within 5-15 minutes (Tesco, Lidl, Morrisons) or local shops just around the corner. If you are familiar with the area, you will know there are lots of cafes, bars, and restaurants around. It is a super lively area, but we are lucky enough to be situated on a quiet street.
There are 5 rooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. We do not have a living room and the kitchen acts as our living room. There is a big garden at the back of the house where we all hang out especially when sunny or having the occasional bonfire. For those who cycle, we have a bike shed.
We are part of a wider network of co-ops and are currently looking to set up as an individual co-op. What does this mean? Affordable housing, flexibility with decorating the space, creating our own rules for running the house, all the good stuff. This also means we have a little bit more of a responsibility regarding upkeeping the property compared to renting via an agency. We have meetings on an ad-hoc basis when any items regarding any maintenance/running of the co-op come up. Having said that, we all invest some of our personal free time and where possible resources to make the best of what we have. It is not as formal of an arrangement as it sounds, however we are looking for someone who would happily want to be part of a housing co-op and be more involved in house related discussions/decisions.
About us:
You will be living with me (interior designer), Alex (AV/sound technician), Rob (animator) and Maya(works in charity). There is a mix of working from home and going in, however generally there’s someone in the house. We are all friendly and enjoy chilling together at the end of a day, but we also respect each other’s independent time. We also have a part time dog(whippet), Dasha who is really friendly and generally quiet.
About you:
We are looking for someone to take the room long term (minimum of 12 months). We are looking for someone 25+ preferably as this is not a party house however we all have people over and have the occasional bbq/gathering and we do go out sometimes. We are looking for someone considerate and friendly. We will expect you to be actively involved in house chores. We want to hear what you have to say and make space for your contributions to the house. No smoking inside the house, only in the garden. The space is suitable for one person only, no couples.
If interested, drop us a message with a little bit about yourself and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can to organise viewings. 😊
