Description

We are looking for a friendly person to share our lovely house from 13 October.

We see our house as a community where we invest in our relationships with each other, keeping up a caring, clean and warm house. Most of us have lived here for five years, and are committed to our home, our local area, and building community together. As the house is in a traffic-free close in a low-traffic neighbourhood, we also have friendly relationships with our neighbours and (mostly!) quiet surroundings.

The bedroom is on the second floor, with a west-facing window giving golden-hour natural light. The room size is 1.7 x 3.4 meters. It comes with a double bed, clothes rail, drawers and a closet in the corridor just outside the room. The room is very small with limited storage so might best suit someone with fewer belongings. The rest of the house is fully furnished, with all of the kitchen equipment you could dream of. You would share a bathroom/toilet with a shower/bath, and there is a second bathroom/toilet on the ground floor as well.

The house is a refurbished four-bedroom townhouse in Stoke Newington, with a gorgeous spacious kitchen and double gas range that make cooking/baking a joy. Our living room has a projector, record player, sewing machines, many houseplants, and an extra deskspace which some of us use when working from home. (Two of us work from home on some weekdays.) We have front and back gardens (with some vegetables growing!) and limited space to store bikes inside.

We are about 20 mins’ walking/10 mins’ cycling from Stoke Newington, Finsbury Park and Manor House stations, and just a couple minutes’ walk to Clissold Park and Church Street. 5 min cycle from a big Morrisons.

We divvy up the housework and have a monthly house dinner/check-in. We are interested in living with people who are happy to cook and eat together sometimes. We have gatherings/parties for birthdays and holidays; day-to-day we’re quite chilled and quiet, especially between 10pm-7am on weeknights but enjoy having friends for dinner. We are vegan and vegetarian, and the house is vegetarian. We are reasonably clean and tidy. We are in our late 30s/early 40s, have immigrant backgrounds, and are POC-, Jewish- and queer-friendly, and we need you to be too.

We are a non-smoking house.

Rent is £630/month, deposit is £630, and monthly bills (Internet, council tax, water, energy) come to about £80. Some of us have a weekly veg box subscription which you’re welcome to be a part of, and we do a bulk order of dry food every few months.

If I think you're a good fit I'll respond to you and ask for a video call before inviting you to come and see the house. We may ask for two references as well.

UPDATE: Due to volume of responses I won't respond to any students/under 25s. Please tell me a bit about yourself and lifestyle - it's important to the household that it's a good fit.
