Description

What we are looking for: We would like to welcome a new person who wants to live intentionally together, and live in a social house. We are vegan/vegetarian and like spending time to cook and eat together, and the house is vegetarian. We share some bulk foods. We have gatherings/parties for birthdays and holidays but day-to-day we’re quite relaxed and quiet, especially between 10pm-8am on weeknights. We divvy up the maintenance and cleaning housework, and like everyone to keep on top of their cleaning responsibilities to keep the house clean and tidy. We do not have a tv and like to spend our time instead chatting, reading, writing, scheming, meditating, making music, crafting, gardening, and other pastimes. We range from early 30s to mid 40s, have immigrant backgrounds, are friendly to POC, Jews and trans people, and we need you to be too. When someone is ill we like to support eachother where we can, and also take precautions to not spread illnesses. We are also a non-smoking house. We like to be proactive when something needs doing in the house. And we like direct communication about each others needs to live together.

The bedroom: A double room on the second floor, with a west-facing window giving gorgeous golden-hour natural light. The room size is 2.8 x 3.4 meters (9.2 x 11.2 feet). You would share a bathroom (toilet/bath) on the 2nd floor, and there is a second bathroom (toilet/shower) on the ground floor as well.

The house: A four-bedroom attached house in Stoke Newington, with a gorgeous spacious kitchen and double gas range that make cooking/baking a joy. We have a first-floor large living room to relax and for inviting friends and sleepovers. We have front and back gardens and places for bikes to be locked. We are about 20 mins’ walking/10 mins’ cycling from Stoke Newington, Finsbury Park and Manor House stations, and just a couple minutes’ walk to Clissold Park and Church Street.

The community: We see our house as a community where we invest in our relationships with each other, keeping up a caring, clean and warm house. Most of us have lived here for six years, and are committed to our home, our local area and building community together. As the house is in a traffic-free close in a low-traffic neighbourhood, we also have friendly relationships with our neighbours and (mostly!) quiet surroundings.

The bills: Rent is £795/month, bills around £80/month, deposit is £850. Some of us have a weekly veg box subscription which you’re welcome to be a part of.

If you’re interested, we’d like to meet you in person and show you round the house! We are organising a first viewing round on Sunday the 29th of March.
